1. Open a Power Point Document and create 10 blank slides.

2. Open Internet Explorer (This will not work on Firefox or Safari. I would recommend you do this on a campus computer so you do not encounter problems).

To avoid computer crashes and other problems, I strongly recommend doing this assignment at one of these labs. Most problems people are encountering are because of their personal computers. http://www.cites.illinois.edu/ics/labs.html (lab locations)

Ask for a computer that is running Windows XP.

3 Go to this link: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/clipart/results.aspx?qu=man&sc=22

4 Click this icon (it might take you to another page. Click done and come back)

5 Click this icon again.

6

Go to slide 1 in your slide power point

7

Click Edit and Paste. Resize the picture so it fits the slide. Hold down shift key when resizing.

8

Go to the remaining slides in your document (slides 2-10).

9

Repeat steps 5-8. However, instead of pasting a picture of man, paste pictures of families, women, men, teens. You can find the pictures at these links: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/clipart/results.aspx?qu=teen&sc=22 http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/clipart/results.aspx?qu=family&sc=22 http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/clipart/results.aspx?qu=women&sc=22 http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/clipart/results.aspx?qu=couple&sc=22#24

This phase is different It requires the computer programs called Audacity & Microsoft Windows Movie Maker.

The best option is to use these two types of computers found on campus: 1.Dell (Black Computers) located in Wohlers, Undergrad, Nevada, Oregon, and Illini Union. Locations and hours can be found here: http://www.cites.uiuc.edu/ics/illini_union.html or Apple Macintosh (White) computers found in English Building Room 8 and Undergrad Library Room 289 only. VERY IMPORTANT: For the Apple computers, make sure they are running Windows XP software. How to determine this: A. The screen should be blue and have the word “Novell” at the log in page. When you see this, log in and everything should work. B. If the log in screen has a picture of the campus and the words Mac OS, the computer is not running the correct software. It needs to be restarted so it is running Window XP. Please kindly ask the computer attendant to restart (reboot) the Apple computer so that it is running Windows XP. Ask for assistance if you are confused.

3. If you do not want to go to the ICS labs, you can download and install the programs on your Windows XP computer. Please go to this website and download the version that is appropriate for your personal computer: http://www.download.com/Windows-Movie-Maker/3000-2194_4-10187903.html http://audacity.sourceforge.net/latest/audacity-win/audacity-win-1.2.6.exe If you choose to download on your computer, you are doing so at your own risk.
