ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE SPIRUTAL/VALUES AND ITS THE DRESIGN PROGRAM A. PARTICIPANTS •

In the beginning the there were problem of prioritizing who will be the participant for the Spiritual/Values session for Clem, since there still volunteers who are handling and giving activities with the children and youth. In the meantime it was the EAP group was assign to him every Saturday. The last few weeks of April went to waiting for ALS participants for values session, training and scheduling, planning and meeting the participant for values session.

The said schedule of the spiritual values facilitator is set on three times a week; it was supposed to be Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Since, things are not yet set and still changes in schedule and pinpointing what barangays for ALS participant and values is ready to start schedule still adjustable. At the end the schedule is set for the facilitator and the participant is Wednesday with three session one in the morning and two in the afternoon. Then, Saturday which is also three session one in the morning and two in the afternoon.

The design module use in the Values session is the katesismo ng pondong pinoy, catechesis for Pilipino youth and other source materials. However, the facilitator prefer to design his own which is more closer to the situations of the participants, since the participants belongs to the different age group and elementary and high school. The topic module is compose of the following: SELF, GOD, LILFE SITUATION and OTHERS. Which falls into what we call four main relationships in life? This topic will run for the whole year, for the month of June to August the topic will focused with their SELF especially for the high school participant who are in their adolescent life. It is necessary to accompany them as they search for their identity and circle of friends. Then, for September to November will focus in their relationship with GOD. This will consist of course of the basic catechism and church teaching about God. Then for December to February will focus in their LIFE SITUATION, where there are in their life journey, problems they encounter and encountering. The last part will focus on OTHERS, their relationship with friends, barkada, girl and boy relationship and family. At the end of the year the facilitator hopes that all participants will have a retreat as the closing of the values session for the year 2009.

The attendee of the values session sometimes varies, in the beginning there were problem in the number of attendees, the maximum number was twenty. On the other hand the minimum number can be five; the worst is two to three participants.

Compare in the previous month, It is now organized and the schedule is regular, the number of participant improve and becoming more stable. At the moment there is no problem arising yet. The kids participate and cooperate in the activity.

Social worker are helpful in the smooth facilitation of the said values session, because they knew the children the participants it’s the facilitation makes it easy for the values facilitator.

As much as the facilitator accommodates all the FCED barangays who wants to have values sessions with their youth and children. it is the limitation of the facilitator because he only comes during Wednesday and Saturday, in which he maximize the said time and schedule. Three sessions during Wednesday and Saturday.

II.

For the past few months the values session is going well and still are new participant coming in. which is very good. However, the hope is that by the end of June there are no more new participants coming in so that there is continuity of the lesson. And it is only fair for those who are regular attendees. SUGGESTIONS AND CONCERNS: •

In the beginning the number of the participant was a bit a problem. The session start late due to waiting and looking for participant, most of the participants are new and it changes every session. It is good if the participant is regular and does not changes every session or another new one are coming in. it disrupt the process and the design module that is schedule.

Continues reminding the participant will help to increase the number of attendance, at the moment attendance is experimental it may increase or it may not. But the hope is that more children will come and be part of the Values session.

It is good that the assign social worker can come and visit the values session so that it will create not only a good relationship with the participant but also they will feel important and given support by social worker which makes a difference in the psyche of the participant.

It is also good if the barangay and the social worker can find conducive place for the values session. Especially when the number gets bigger and for the some activities that need space for movements.

If the organization can hire a fulltime Values facilitator for the children and youth it will be good. They need more help in that aspect, someone who can journey with them and really can make impact in their life. So that the children and youth can make a difference in their small circle of influence. If we do believe that they are the hope of this nation and generations to come let us invest on it. Rather than other things, that is not essentials.

If is important that all Spiritual/Values facilitator also meet and share their experience in handling and conducting session with their participants. And also monthly meeting with the social worker for monitoring who are assign in the said barangay, for them to know what is going on and if there is a problem that the facilitator has encounter.
