4. The key objectives of this position are:
To provide a design and print service for the City of Swan, under the direction of the Program Manager Corporate Communications, that results in an increased awareness of the role and functions of the City of Swan as well as an improvement in the image of the City.
5. The key responsibilities of this position are:
Provide high-level graphic design services for the City’s printed and online marketing material, including magazines, booklets, posters, etc.
Liaise with printers on City publishing needs.
To design City presentations utilising a variety of presentation software and visual aids.
To observe and promote practices and activities which are within the Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities Policies of the City of Swan.
Liaise with other City officers on their graphic design/publication needs.
Maintain and update knowledge of contemporary graphic design techniques and trends and identify opportunities for improving the design of City online and printed material.
Assist senior graphic designer with day to day tasks.
6. Selection Criteria - The skills, experience, qualifications and attributes needed to do this job a) Qualifications and/or training and/or licences
Essential
Relevant tertiary qualification in design.
Training/demonstrable proficiency in the use of latest graphic design hardware and software, in particular Adobe CS2 and QuarkXPress working in a PC OS environment.
Conversant with Microsoft Word and Powerpoint
b) Experience and knowledge Minimum one years experience in performing graphic design tasks to the highest professional standards. Knowledge of the printing industry and ability to liaise with printers on City publication needs.
