Remember When we had just learned the Distributive Property… …life was so easy then, wasn’t it? …just multiply the number on the outside of the group to all the numbers on the inside…

IT’S STILL EASY!!! There’s just a few extra letters involved. NO PROBLEM ! ! ! !
3x(x + 5) x2(x + 4x)
= 3x2Ca+n 15x Add you ‘em ?
= x3 + 4x3 = 5x3
3(x2 – 4x) = 3x2 – 12x
Don’t forget ! Turn all subtractions into adding the opposite!!!
8x – 4x(x+3)
Turn subtractions to Now distribute !! adding the opposite
8x + -4x + -12x Anything we can 2
add together??
-4x + -4x 2
DONE!
