Photoshop Moving Tool: Rhiannon Laxalt
Download a photo to your desktop. Add a downloaded photo to your program by clicking and dragging.
OR Go to “File” Then “Open” a downloaded image.
Select the Moving tool (You may also press the “V” key on the keyboard to select the moving tool)
Make sure Auto-Select is on! (If it’s not on, your last worked on layer will be the only image that will move)
After image is placed you may resize accordingly.
To keep your image proportional to resize: Click and hold the “Shift” key on your keyboard (before “Placing” your image) Click and hold the “Shift” key to restrict your photo from moving around everywhere- this will limit your image’s movement to only one direction. Left – Right Up – Down Diagonally Click and hold the “Alt” key to distort your images proportions (To make it more angular)
After “Placing” your image: (You will no longer be able to resize your image)
Other “Move Tool” tips and tricks: Control/Command “G” on your keyboard will let you “Group” your photo layers and move them as one (Pressing Shift on your keyboard before clicking an image with also group images, similarly to holding shift while selecting multiple files) Command T will allow you to resize placed images. Right clicking on a stack of images will bring up a menu to choose which layer you’d like to move (If you are having trouble with accidental stacked images and can’t select the one you want) The icons at the top of the move screen will move your image to square it in the frame Top Left/Right/Centered
