随着科技的发展， album 可以代表具 有不同功能的东西，其词义也随之发 生变化。

1 、 album: a book in which you keep photographs, stamps, ect. 即用来收藏 的粘贴簿册，是可以触摸的到的物件 ，又是保存供观赏的照片、邮票和钱 币的载体，与触觉和视觉相关。 Eg. photo album （影集、相册） wedding photo album （结婚相册 ） postage stamp album/stamp album （集邮册）

coin album （钱币收藏册） Eg . (1) He inserted a photograph in the photo album.( 他在相册里插进一张相片。） (2) I took a look inside their wedding photo album. （我看了一眼他们的结婚相册。 ) (3) A stamp album can provide valuable protection for your prized collection. （一本 集邮册能为你珍贵的收藏品提供有益的保 护。）

2 、 album: a collection of pieces of music that have been recorded on one record, CD,VCD or cassette, 即 录制在唱片、 CD 、 VCD 或盒式磁带 上的音乐专辑，依然是可以触摸的到 的物件，又是记录供欣赏的音乐作品 的载体，与触觉和听觉相关。 Eg. music album （音乐专辑） record album （唱片专辑）

the latest album （最新专辑） to make an album/to produce an album （制作专辑） to publish an album/to launch an album/to release an album/to issue an album （出专辑） to promote an album （推销专辑） to distribute an album （发行专辑）

Eg. (1)The film star has already published five albums of cover songs. （这位影 星已经出了五张封面歌曲专辑了。） (2)The record company has decided to make and launch an album for the new singer. （这家唱片公司决定为这 个新歌手制作并推出一张专辑。） (3)The band planned to issue a new album next month. （这个乐队计划下 个月出一张新专辑。）

Extension of meaning Extension of meaning, also known as generalization, is the name given o the widening of meaning which some words undergo. It is a process by which a word which originally had a specialized meaning has now become generalized or has extended to cover a broader and often less definite concept.

Examples: mill—place for grinding –-place where things are made grain into flour journal---daily paper---periodical scene---tent—a view of anything bonfire---fire on bones---a fire in the open made by burning anything butcher---one who kills goats---one who kills animals companion---one who shares bread—a company
