show fee The show fee is £55, paid when you audition. It is only refunded if we don’t offer you a part. It includes a production t-shirt and your costume hire. It does not include tickets to see the show, shoe hire, socks or tights (if required). Script loans require a £10 returnable deposit payable by cheque at your first rehearsal.

auditions When:

Sunday 21 June 2009 at 10am, 11am and 12pm

Where:

The Lockwood Day Centre Westfield Road, Slyfield Green Guildford GU1 1RR

Auditions last 45 minutes. All members are allowed to audition. Parents do not stay to the audition. Audition times must be booked in advance. Auditions are like a workshop. If you would like to try for a speaking role you will need to read aloud, although you don’t have to learn anything. We do not allow children to audition for specific parts. We will write to let you know how you did and if you were successful, the following week. Some rehearsals and performances may be during term time. Please check with your school that you are allowed to appear in the production before you audition.

parts There is a large cast. We will decide after the auditions which will be principal roles (attending all rehearsals and performances) and which will be split into teams (yellow and blue). All parts have some lines to learn either as solos or as part of a group. Peter Pan Tinker Bell Wendy, John and Michael Mr and Mrs Darling Nana, the dog Liza, the Maid The Lost Boys including Tootles, Nibs, Slightly Curly and The Twins Tiger Lily and the Indians The Mermaids Captain James Hook The Pirates including Mr Smee and Gentleman Starkey

Paying the show fee shows a commitment to attend all rehearsals and performances. To appear in Peter Pan, you must attend workshops during the Autumn Term 09.

licence All cast members need a licence to appear in the production. There is no charge for this, it is simple to apply for and we will send you information about how to do it.

tickets Each cast member is expected to sell a minimum of 10 tickets to their family and friends. You will be given a publicity pack (called Bums on Seats) and an Accelerator Offer with reduced ticket prices, to help you do this. Being entirely unsubsidised, it is only through ticket sales that we can continue to present productions at The Electric and to maintain the show fee at £55.

chaperones We need one chaperone for every twelve children in the production. Chaperones play a vital part in looking after the cast during the performances. It is also an exciting opportunity to see what goes on backstage to put on the production. Without chaperones the performance is not allowed to go ahead. We currently have a very small and dedicated group of volunteer chaperones; very few of whom actually have children in the production. We desperately need more parents to register. If we are not able to find enough chaperones, we will have no other option than to use professional ones. This would increase the show fee by over £35 per child. If we had enough volunteer chaperones, they would only need to do one or two performances each. Being a chaperone is enjoyable and rewarding. It can take a little time to register, so if you are interested

in registering, please contact your local authority as soon as possible. If you live in Surrey you can contact the Child Employment Team in the Education Welfare Service on 01483 517838 If you live in Hampshire you can contact the Child Employment Office on 01962 876300 or 01962 876301

and finally ... If you let us know when you audition that you would have to miss a rehearsal, we will try and put you in a team that’s rehearsing on a different day. Please advise us in writing of your team choice and

also the date of the rehearsal that you would have to miss when you audition. Please Note: Choosing a team greatly reduces your chance of being offered a role and makes casting the production very difficult. Only choose a team if you REALLY have to!
