The Accounting Operations Team provides all accounting, financial reporting and payroll functions for the Institute. This includes the areas of accounts payables, accounts receivables, contracts, general ledger, fixed assets, credit cards and e-commerce. (They are now combined with Internals to form the Finance and Services group.)

The Member & Workforce Services Directorate is comprised of three areas: Member Service, Customer Service and Educational Programs.

Business & Market Analysis The Business & Market Analysis Team is responsible for establishing key performance targets and evaluating the financial viability of AIAA’s business lines. This team provides research and analytical support to the various areas of the Institute, investigating industry trends and identifying potential opportunities to grow existing and new products that support the profession. This team reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

Technical Activities The Technical Activities Division focuses on the development and organization of high quality events that include technical or management conferences, workshops, and exhibitions of interest to the aerospace community.

Externals The externals group represents AIAA and aerospace issues to the world and to our membership: engaging the public and our membership through Corporate Communications, reviewing technical issues in a broader social and economic context for the aerospace community through Aerospace America and providing an awareness of issues and their impact to policymakers through Public Policy and communicating to our members on internal activities through the Bulletin. To be effective, our externals program requires merging the aerospace knowledge of the Institute's membership with the staff's written and oral communication and persuasive skills appropriate to each audience.

Member Services is responsible for Region and Section Activities, Member Services, Honors & Awards, Young Professional Activities and the Historic Sites Program. The Team’s primary mission is to serve and support the members of AIAA. More specifically, Region & Section Activities administers numerous programs to support the leaders/ officers within the seven regions and 64 sections. Member Services develops strategies to recruit and retain members, is a primary point of contact for members (domestic and international) and coordinates programs to recognize service to the Institute and the profession. Honors and Awards administer a comprehensive awards program that recognizes those that have made notable contributions to the profession. Recognition is made through more than 80 awards as well as the Fellow and Honorary Fellow grade program. Young Professional Activities develops and administers programs specifically designed for members who are under age 35. Historic Sites Program honors notable aerospace sites in public ceremony. Educational programs focus on the educational needs of the aerospace community. More specifically, Professional Development manages 40+ courses to 100+ courses, which are a blend of courses at conferences, home study and onsite. University/Student Programs administers numerous programs to support students pursuing a degree in Aerospace Sciences. K-12 Outreach develops programs to support educators and excite students The Customer Service group provides a one-stop shop for customers to inquire about membership, product, and program inquiries, orders, and fulfillment. The group handles the data entry and processing of memberships, subscriptions, and conference registrations; journal and meeting paper claims and fulfillment; membership kits; and supports the external fulfillment house in the fulfillment of books and other products.

Human Resources Human Resources provides support to employees and teams throughout AIAA. This includes implementing and maintaining benefit, compensation, training and other programs related to employees and employee morale. Human Resources maintains personnel records and administers Human Resource related programs in compliance with governmental requirements.

Information Technology The Information Technology team is composed of the Information Services Team and the Web Team. The Information Technology team provides ongoing support of AIAA staff to ensure they have what they need to do their job. They support the staff by being experts at their trade.

Internals The Internals team is composed of the Design Team, and Office Services Team. The Internals group provides ongoing support of AIAA staff to ensure they have what they need to do their job. They support the staff by being experts at their trade. (They are now combined with Accounting Operations to form the Finance and Services group.)

Programs The programs team oversees the education, standards, corporate, and outside affiliation activities of the Institute. This includes external relationships associated through special events, professional development activities, K-12 activities and higher education activities. The team will leverage synergies across the Institute to deliver quality programs that add significant value to the aerospace professional, the corporations that serve the industry and the overall industrial base worldwide.

Publications The Publications Directorate focuses on the development and organization of highquality scholarly and research publications of interest to the aerospace community. The division is comprised of the Journals and Books business lines, each staffed by a distinct team. These teams develop, deliver, and disseminate the critical technical information to advance aerospace research and engineering. The Journals Team publishes seven peer-reviewed technical journals addressing the broad scope of the Institute’s constituency. The Books Team publishes titles in three series to serve the professional, student, and general interest audiences. The teams are supported by marketing, sales, and electronic product development functions to ensure broad distribution and optimal delivery of the critical content published.
