Log on and Navigation in Release 12 Oracle Revision: 001

This document defines the process for access to the Release 12 Oracle Applications and the navigation practices. Once your IT staff has provided you with you URL and logon information, you can open you browser and input the URL. The first page should look like the image below. Input your user name and password. Press the Login button to proceed. You should now see the image below. You can modify this page to add quick links to Oracle forms or other Internet sites.
To add a link to your “Favorites” area, press the Personalize button. You will see an area similar to image below.
Here you can select from your assigned responsibilities. Press the down arrow and select one of them, then press the GO button.

You should now see a page similar to the one below.
Under the “Select Function Prompt” is a listing of forms. You can select them by checking the box to the far left and then pressing the ADD button. If you don’t see the form you want, it may be farther along in the list. You can see more forms by pressing the NEXT 10 link to the far right. Once you have selected the Functions you wish to include in your Favorites, click the Apply button. It should now appear similar to the image below.
You may also add link to sites on the Internet by using the Add URL button shown above. Once you have added everything you may need to your Favorites area, you can click any of the Function links to open the Application Forms.

At the top of your Oracle Application window, you will find a toolbar. Below is the definition of each of the icons.
1. The New icon opens a new record. 2. The Find... icon invokes the Find window. 3. The Show Navigator icon invokes the Navigator window. 4. The Save icon saves your data. 5. The Next Step icon advances you to the next step of a process (see Launch Business Processes). 6. The Switch Responsibilities icon invokes the list of your responsibilities for you to choose another. 7. The Print... icon prints the current screen. In some cases it may print a report associated with the current data. 8. The Close Form icons closes all windows of the current form. 9. The Cut icon cuts the current selection to the clipboard. 10. The Copy icon copies the current selection to the clipboard. 11. The Paste icon pastes from the clipboard into the current field. 12. The Clear Record icon erases the current record from the form. 13. The Delete icon deletes the current record from the database. 14. The Edit Field... icon displays the Editor window for the current field. 15. The Zoom icon invokes customer-defined drill-down behavior. 16. The Translations... icon invokes the Translations window (see Creating Translations for a Record). 17. The Attachments icon invokes the Attachments window. If attachments already exist, the icon appears as a paperclip holding paper. 18. The Folder Tools icon invokes the Folder Tools palette window (see Customizing the Presentation of Data). 19. The Window Help icon invokes online help for the current window.

Keyboard Shortcuts: You need not use a mouse to navigate the screens. Oracle provides Keyboard Shortcuts for navigation. From your HELP pull down menu, you can access the KEYBOARD HELP screen. The screen is shown to the left. It displays all the keyboard shortcuts available in Oracle. Some of the most useful ones are: Commit
