How to Optimize Word 2007 documents with graphics. This tutorial is for Word 2007 documents that contains a large amount of graphics. Open Word 2007. From the ribbon select INSERT. Click on the Picture Icon to insert a picture. Insert your picture(s).
5. Click on the picture and size it. 6. Select the picture again, to get the Picture Tools Ribbon Bar (formerly Menu Bar).
7. Click on the words Picture Tools. 8. On the left-hand side of the page you should see Adjust area box on the ribbon. Click on Compress Pictures.
9. You can select individual pictures, or if you leave the box unchecked it will compress all of them. During this stage you can also click on Options to adjust your compress settings.
You can also click on Options button to change the desired resolution. After you finish making your selection, click OK.

You will notice the original size without compression was 206 KB and with compression 101KB. Note: using file type such as .png can achieve greater compression than GIF. These same steps can also be used in Powerpoint 2007.
