Technology Opportunities October:

I’ve had many teachers invite me into their classrooms to model lessons for them. Thank you. I have enjoyed working with the students. I would love to join you in your classroom or the computer lab. Email me with the topic you’re teaching and available dates and we’ll design a lesson. I have saved the newsletters in each school’s common folder, if you would like to refer back to them throughout the year.

Smartboard Tips You can insert clip art and hyperlink (link to a website) by inserting them into the Smartboard notebook * Open the Smartboard software by going to the Novell Applications box and click on Smart Notebook. * To insert clip art, click on the gallery on the right tab. Click the essentials for educators. Choose the category of the clip art you want to add. As an example, I chose the timer under gallery sampler, then profes-

sional, then presentation. Click on the timer to insert it into your slide. You can set it to count up or countdown. The timer will beep when you have counted down to zero.

* The insert a movie clip from an outside source, click on the attachments tab on the right hand side of the page. Click insert.

* This will bring you to an insert hyperlink page. Type in, or cut and paste, your weblink and name the link. Your link will now appear on the right hand side under file name. To insert into your Smartboard notebook, drag the link onto your slide. * You will now have the name of your link and a small blue dot. During your presentation, click on the blue dot and this should take you directly to your webpage.

If you would like to have these changes apply to one slide, click apply. If you want this background for all of your slides, click apply to all. Middle School T.I.M.E.S.

To insert a design background, click on format, then slide design. You will now have the option on the right hand side to insert a design. If you click on the down arrow, you will have the option to apply to one slide or to all of them. Next month we’ll add clip art and animation.
