NY League of Conservation Voters Announces New York City Endorsements NEW YORK --- The New York League of Conservation Voters, which works to make environmental sustainability a top political and policy priority in New York, today announced its endorsed slate of candidates for New York City’s fall 2009 election. NYLCV endorsed 20 individuals who are seeking the offices of public advocate, comptroller, borough president and City Council. NYLCV previously announced its endorsement of Michael Bloomberg for mayor. This year’s screening process was a very competitive one, with 70 candidates seeking NYLCV’s endorsement. “During these challenging economic times, it would be too easy for New York City to lose ground as sustainability leader,” said Marcia Bystryn, president of the New York League of Conservation Voters. “Our endorsed candidates have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to environmental progress that will help shape New York City into an even cleaner, greener city of tomorrow.” NYLCV’s 2009 New York City endorsements are: COMPTROLLER David Yassky PUBLIC ADVOCATE Eric Gioia MANHATTAN BOROUGH PRESIDENT Scott Stringer (continued on next page) Page 1 of 2
