Job posted by NTNU (19/05/2009 15:06) Job Description: Job PhD Research Fellowship position in «Tracking of MIMO radio channels» at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications Research Framework Programme/ Marie Curie Actions No Job Reference Number : IME037/2009 Main Research Field : Technology; Sub Research Field: Communication technology Job Summary A PhD Research Fellowship is offered within the area of "Tracking of MIMO radio channels" at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications (http://www.iet.ntnu.no/en, within the Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Electrical Engineering, The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The Ph.D. scholarships is within the project WILATI+ (WIreless interferenceLimited highthroughput Access Technologies and applicatIons) financed by the Research Council of Norway (NFR) under the Nordic cooperation Nordite. Job Description The focus of the Ph.D. position will be on utilizing MIMO channel models in designing tracking algorithms for the eigenvectors of MIMO channel matrices and in MIMO channel prediction. The time dynamics of the MIMO channel will be mapped to the corresponding time dynamics of the eigenvectors and eigenvalues. The WILATI+ project is a joint effort between Helsinki University of Technology (TKK), Lund University (LU) and the Norwegian Institute of Science and Technology (NTNU). The project investigate and improves the performance of MIMO radio communication systems in the areas of high data rate, short range communications in the presence of multiple, interfering base stations or access points and mobile stations. The project uses a
unique multilink MIMO sounder system for channel measurements with a scope in new applications of short range radio systems. To improve on the channel estimation and to facilitate for channel prediction it has been proposed to track the MIMO channel subspace. The channels measured and channel models developed within this project will be used to evaluate and improve stateoftheart algorithms for multiuser detection, decoding, and channel estimation on wireless channels.
