The Savior of Cambodia A Day in our Life 5-7AM-wake up, study the Bible and prepare for the day 7-8AM-work in the office conducting speaking tests, and prepare our English lesson 8-10AM-teach English to the Cambodian English teachers 10:15-11AM-teach English to the Children 11AM-4PM-free time: practice Khmer, work on projects, read, prepare sermons, 4-5PM- work in the office, conduct speaking tests and prepare our lesson for the evening English class 5:30-6:30PM-teach English in the New Hope School 6:30-7:00PM-build relationships with students 7:00-8:00PM-prepare and eat dinner

It's now been a month since our arrival to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and our reunion with Pastors Keat and Sally Kove at Cambodia Mission Outreach. Josh and I have settled into a schedule now. In the mornings we each teach an English class to the Cambodian English teachers. These teachers are young adults who have recently graduated from Bible college, and work full-time here at the ministry. The seven of them teach English in the New Hope English school, as well as lead cell groups and disciple new believers. Josh and I are teaching them English also teaching them how to teach, so that they may improve and have confidence in what they are doing. Josh and I are also teaching English to the children. Josh alternates between the grades one and four on a weekly basis. I do the same with the grades two and three classes. The kids really are beautiful, funny and easy to love. I'd be lying if I said the grade threes didn't test my patience sometimes, but it is in these situations that the fruit of patience can be cultivated and

exemplified, and for this I really am grateful. Also, if we love only those who make us happy, then our love is not the real love that is from God, who loves because He is love, rather than because people deserve it. In the evening, Josh and I each teach English in the New Hope English school. Currently, there are about two hundred students attending and most of them have chosen the free scholarship, which means instead of paying a monthly fee for the school, they attend church services several times a month. About 70% of these students are unbelievers. It is without a doubt, God's longing for each of these students to know Him. As we teach English, I see in our precious students, people who God has entrusted to us; people whom God has painfully purchased Himself by the blood of His son. I have a responsibility to these students from God to let Him show His Son through me. Can you see the people in your life whom God has entrusted you with? It is even when teaching Eng-

lish that we don't want to just prepare our lesson as if that is all we have to offer, but we ask that His very presence would accompany us, knowing that He is available at any moment to invade hearts and sweep out all sin. It is with the Cambodia staff here that we have become coworkers for the gospel. We each do our small part, working together to attain the vision of this ministry, all the while, fixing our eyes on Jesus, our only Savior. It is the desire of our heart which God delights in, to see the Cambodians meet Jesus and grow into mature Christians, passionate about preaching and living out the gospel, to their fellow people.

For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness”, is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

Enslaved to Love (josh) The “saints” of Catholicism and Orthodoxy continue to inspire me like none other. Such dedication has been unparalleled, and their lives scream of a terrible bliss that only one utterly consumed by Love can imagine. They seem ‘extreme’ and ‘insane’ because they were. They were insane for Love, and often are our subject of ridicule because we inwardly covet the relationship they had with God, yet

aren’t willing to pay the price they paid to get it. We desire their Gospel from afar, as if we are looking at some material possession we would love to have, but as we get closer and see how intricately beautiful it really is, we also behold the price tag. It is true that eternal salvation is free gift of grace, but the stature the “saints” enjoyed(?) cost them everything they had. They realized to have a Savior

meant assurance of salvation, but they also realized to have a Lord meant to be a servant. And such as these were indeed, servants of Love. They were enslaved to it. That is why we still exalt their lives hundreds of years after they redeemed their inheritance. Their recorded lives are given to us by God for the sake of our admiration and edification. Let us learn, and serve Love.

He is one of the orphans He is actually 16 years old, but he lives with the mind and body of a 5 year old. This is the result of a medical condition which required the removal of his pituitary gland, resulting in an inability to produce anymore hormones.

There are now ten new additions at New Hope School. Every morning, a van arrives at the school and drops off ten orphans from ‘Four Square Children of Promise’. This is a foreign-run Christian orphanage here in Phnom Penh. The ten children who are sent to our school, are actually undisciplined and behave badly, so they wont be accepted by any

other school in the area. Pastor Sally told us that she actually gave some of the teachers special training so that they would be able to handle teaching these children. These children certainly are a handful but we thank God that even bad behaviour cannot separate these little ones from the love of God. We depend on God for His grace and love to seep

from our hearts and into our actions toward these special kids. It is an awesome gift to us and the children that they may come and be embraced in God’s family, not carrying in them the heart of an orphan, but a heart who has been adopted by God their father.
