One-One-Nine is about getting into God’s Word, understanding it, and letting it change our lives. Theresa Erixon has the desire to help Jr. High School students understand the Bible. So, starting in November, Theresa will be teaching 1-1-9 for the Jr. High Students. You don’t want to miss out on God’s Word and its message for your life. Welcome Theresa as she shares the Word with you!

Parenting is Tough! God can Help! I work with teenagers every week and it is a challenging task. I spend a lot of time getting to know them, teaching, and giving advise. We like to have fun, but we also get serious about following Jesus and the issues in their lives and in the world. What I have found is, it’s not an easy task to guide teenagers down a path that leads them to Jesus. It is a process that often takes a lot of time. That’s where you come in. I can only do so much, but you are in a position to make a greater impact in your child’s life than I am! If it isn’t easy for me, I bet its really hard for you. Being a good parent isn’t for sissies or cowards. I know most of you probably wonder how a guy with no kids can say that, but I remember what my mom went through and I see a lot of what you deal with. It’s a big task. What you do with your kids now will influence their future the rest of their lives. With a task this big, I think the best place we can turn for help is to our Maker! He made us right, He knows what works best and how we were created! Here are some things that His Word says. There are 12 verses here. Read a verse and think about it throughout your day. Ask yourself, “What does this mean for my family?” Proverbs 11:29 He who brings trouble on his family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise. Proverbs 24:3-4: By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; 4 through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures. Matthew 10:37-38: “Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; 38 and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Matthew 12:25: Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. 1 Corinthians 1:10: I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. Ephesians 4:31-32: Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 6:1-4: Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”— which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long

life on the earth.” 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Colossians 3:12-14: Col 3:12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. 1 Timothy 5:1-2: Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, 2 older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity. 1 Timothy 5: 3-4: Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need. 4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and

grandparents, for this is pleasing to God. 1 Timothy 5:8: If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. 1 Peter 3:8-9: Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. 9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
