Thorns and weed fill once fertile fields

We rejoice at the wonderful response to PMU’s famine relief effort. To date over $16,000 have been sent to provide food, seed and other supplies for planting in the parched land of Kenya. These funds are going to both pastors and members of congregations. We praise the Lord that the rains have started in earnest (the rainy season runs from April through June). Our Kenyan brethren are praying that the rains will be sufficient for a good harvest.

At the time of this writing, planting has been completed and the summer harvest is eagerly anticipated. Famine relief funds are enabling our brethren to keep going until the earth yields its increase. Our brethren write, “may the Lord bless you and prosper His work in your hands. And please do convey our heartfelt gratitude to all who helped raise the money.” There are still many months until Rev. David Omwamba, IPC Pastor, stands in harvest and years of famine to overfield of dead corn come and our desire is to continue to help until the crisis is truly past. Your assistance in keeping this fund healthy is greatly appreciated. Please contact our office for more information on how to contribute.

Presbyterian Missionary Union is a non-profit missions agency associated with the Bible Presbyterian Church. Our purpose is to advance the cause of missions that are biblically based and practiced and to stand against any compromise of the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. PMU is directed by a Missions Council of Christian leaders who volunteer their time to guide the ministry. To learn more about missions opportunities through PMU, or to learn more about the BPC please contact us. The Missions Banner is published ten times a year and is distributed without cost to interested individuals and churches. It seeks to promote the clear stand of the BPC by providing a biblical perspective on issues, fads, and theories in missions and church development. Our Editor is Len Pine, and our Publishing Coordinator is Tito Lyro.

19 Baptized at Myanmar Summer Camp—An Answer to Prayer... In the April Banner we printed Rev. Kim’s request for prayer for their first summer camp. We now have a report from Myanmar. Pastor Kim writes… “We just returned home (Yangon) from the Summer Camp. The Camp lasted for thirteen days. God answered your prayers so that nineteen people got baptized. Among the nineteen baptized, twelve are from among the Intha people. Praise the LORD.” Continue to pray for Khawl (pictured, left) and Mawite Kim as they labor for the Lord in Myanmar. Their ministry continues to expand—the number of orphans has increased and Rev. Kim now has the responsibility of shepherding a second Bible Presbyterian Church. This young couple is energized by their love for the Lord and they need our continued prayers as they seek His guidance and wisdom in spreading the Gospel to their people. Pray, too, for their great need for regular monthly supporters!

Team Timothy ‘06—Preparation is Underway for Bolivia Ministry Little children like those pictured at right will be crowding into the Iglesia Presbiteriana Biblica in La Paz, Bolivia, to learn English, study the Bible, learn songs, and play games during the Team Timothy Ministry this July 8-21. Adults, too, will have training in church government, music, family issues, English, and art. The team will also minister in several churches in the La Paz area during regular and special services. Be watching next month for a full outline of the team’s duties, and thank you for your prayers for their ongoing preparations!
