DimensionM BETA Reports Guide Step 1: Go to the BETA REPORTS tab in the Educator Portal. Step 2: Select your REPORT PARAMETERS

This feature of the Educator Portal allows district- and school-level educators to select specific parameters for each of the various reports. The header in each report output indicates the parameters so the user has an easy point of reference once the report is complete. Each parameter (and the reports it applies to) is described below:

1. Report: Select Usage Report or DimensionM Multiplayer Report from the dropdown menu. 2. Game: For the Usage Report, select all games, or specify one of the following: DimensionM Multiplayer, Evolver Multiplayer, Evolver Single Player, Dimenxian Single Player, and Instructional Modules. NOTE: For the DimensionM Multiplayer Report you can only get data for that game. 3. Mission: Only visible when DimensionM Multiplayer game selected. Select ALL, Meltdown II, Obstacle Course II, Swarm II. 4. Level: Only visible when DimensionM Multiplayer game selected. Select ALL, or Grades 3 – 8 (Level D – I), or Algebra.

DimensionM BETA Reports Guide 5. Topic: Only visible when DimensionM Multiplayer game selected. Select ALL, Algebra, Data Analysis and Probability, Geometry, Measurement, or Numbers and Operations. The number of Topics you see will vary depending on the Level selected. 6. Skill: Only visible when DimensionM Multiplayer game selected. Select either ALL or an individual Skill. The Skills available will vary depending on Level and Topic selected. 7. Region/District/Site: These are the groups each student profile is assigned to. Reports will default to your Region, District and Site. Only District administrators may view reports for more than one Site. Site and Class Administrators will only have access to the data from the Site to which they belong. 8. Grade: View students at a specific grade level, from 3 – 12. This will ONLY work for students with grade level defined in Student Profile in the Educator Portal. 9. Class: Any Class defined for selected Site or all Classes in District if All Sites selected. If you have not set up Classes for your students, you are still able to view all students in a particular Site. 10. Student: ALL students in a selected Class or Any Student in selected Class. 11. Start and End Dates: Start and end dates defining the period for which you want to see student data.

The Usage Report provides both a snapshot and detailed report showing software usage. The report below was run at the level of a Class Administrator (i.e., a teacher) for all games, for the site called ‘PD Demo’ (i.e., a demonstration site), which was the default and only location for this Class Administrator. A Site Administrator would see the same results, since both a Class and Site Administrator have access to the data only for their own Site. If a District Administrator were to run the Usage Report, she could run the report just as it appears here by specifically selecting this Site prior to running the report, or run a report for all the Sites in her District. The top part of the report indicates the parameters selected during the report creation process. This appears on the each page of the report on-screen, and in all worksheets if you download the report in Excel format.

This next part of the report is a summary of all of the data for this site (here, PD Demo). It also appears on the first page of the report on-screen, or in Sheet 1 if you download the report in Excel format. The returned data is explained below:

DimensionM BETA Reports Guide Usage Summary Section This section appears on the first page of the report on-screen, or in Sheet 1 if you download the report in Excel format. This data shows the high-level totals from the data in the Usage Summary by Site section (explained in the next section).

1. All Active Users: The total number of unique users for all selected groups during the chosen time period. In this case, it is only for the Site called PD Demo. If a District Administrator ran a report for more than one Site, this would be the total number of unique active users for all selected Sites. 2. All Created Users: The total number of usernames and passwords set up for each site (again, the sample shows only the Site called PD Demo) during the chosen time period. 3. All First Time Users: The number of users who used any game for the first time during the chosen time period at the Site. This sample report was run for all software titles, so any indicated user could have used any one of the software titles (or more than one) for the first time during this time period. If you only run the report for one title then this number may change. 4. Total Games: The total number of games played by all students at the Site. 5. Total Time on Task: The total amount of time students spent on the software in the entire District and at each Site during the chosen time period. 6. Games per Active User: The average number of games played by each user for the entire District and at each Site during the chosen time period. 7. Time per Active User: The average amount of time played for each user in the given time period for the entire District and at each Site during the chosen time period.

NOTE: For reports run for a single Site (i.e., reports run by Class or Site Administrators), the data in some fields will be repeated from the top section (Usage Summary).

1. Site Name: The name of each Site reported on. In this case, it’s only the Site called PD Demo. If a District Administrator ran a report for more than one Site, this would be the total number of unique active users for all Sites. 2. Unique Active Users: The total number of unique users active during the chosen time period for all of the groups selected for inclusion in the report (here, only for the Site called PD Demo). If a District Administrator ran a report for more than one Site then this would be the total number of unique active users for all selected Sites. 3. Unique Created Users: The total number of usernames and passwords set up for each site (again, here it’s only one Site) during the chosen time period. 4. Unique First Time Users: The number of users who used any game for the first time during the chosen time period at the Site. This sample report was run for all software titles, so any indicated user could have used any one of the software titles (or more than one) for the first time during this time period. If you only run the report for one title then this number may change. 5. Last Active Date: The last time any user at that particular site used the software during the chosen time period. 6. Username: Each student’s username, which they use (along with a password) to log in to the software. 3. First Name: Each student’s first name. 4. Last Name: Each student’s last name. 5. # of Games: The total number of games played by a particular student during the chosen time period. 6. Total Time on Task: The total amount of time spent on the software by a particular student during the chosen time period. 7. Last Game Name: The last game played by a particular student during the chosen time period. 8. Last Mission Played: The last mission played by a particular student during the chosen time period. 9. Last Time Played: The last date and time a particular student played any mission during the chosen time period.

The DimensionM Mulitplayer Game Detail Report provides particular data about each Level, Topic, and Skill (or any morespecific parameters you select) for each student. The report below was run at the level of a Class Administrator (i.e., a teacher) for all games, for the site called ‘PD Demo’ (i.e., a demonstration site), which was the default and only location for this Class Administrator. A Site Administrator would see the same results, since both a Class and Site Administrator have access only to the data at their own Site. If a District Administrator were to run the Usage Report, he could run the report just as it appears here (though he would need to specifically select this Site prior to running the report), or he could run a report for all the Sites in a particular District. The top part of the report shows all of the selected parameters. This appears at the top of the report on-screen and at the top of the worksheets if you download the report in Excel format.

The main body of the report shows a lot of useful data. Each of the columns is explained below:

DimensionM BETA Reports Guide 1. Site Name: The name of each Site chosen for the report. In this case, it’s only the Site called PD Demo. If a District Administrator ran a report for more than one Site then this list would include all selected Sites. 2. Student Name: Each student’s last and first name. There are two situations in which a student will be repeated: if they played multiple times, or if they played one time but encountered multiple Skills during that game. For latter, this would occur if the student picked the ‘Random Mix’ option for Skill in the DimensionM Multiplayer game. NOTE: All entries with the exact same date and time indicate that the student selected ‘Random Mix’ for a particular mission. 3. Username: Each student’s username, which they use (along with a password) to log in to the software. 4. Game Name: Each student’s game name, which appears on-screen during Multiplayer games. 5. Mission: Meltdown II, Obstacle Course II, or Swarm II. 6. Level: Level D – I or Algebra. This example shows only two students: one student played all games at the Algebra level, one student played all games at Level D. 7. Topic: Algebra, Data Analysis and Probability, Geometry, Measurement, or Numbers and Operations. 8. Skill: The individual Skill played by a particular student during a given Mission. Skills will vary depending on Level and Topic selected. Games in which a student chose ‘Random Mix’ during game setup will indicate multiple Skills listed for each game played. 9. Date: The date and time a student logged on to play a particular mission. 10. Answers Attempted: The total number of items that the student attempted to answer when playing that particular mission. 11. Correct: The total number of items that the student answered correctly when playing that particular mission. 12. First Attempt Correct: The total number of items that the student answered correctly on the first attempt when playing that particular mission. 13. Incorrect: The total number of items that the student answered incorrectly when playing that particular mission. In the example above, the student Barack Obama played 3 Missions total: one on 4/23/2009 at 3:25:05 PM, one on 4/23/2009 at 3:12:02 PM, and one on 3/10/2009 at 11:39:23 AM. Since you can see 4 skills listed for the Mission played on 4/23/2009 at 3:25:05 PM (Domain/Range of Relations, Exponential Growth/Decay, Operations w/Radical Terms and Translate to Alg. Expressions), you know that for that game ‘Random Mix’ was selected for the Skill parameter during game setup. For the other games, only one specific Skill was selected during game setup. Also in the example above, the student George W Bush chose ‘Random Mix’ during game setup (he encountered items covering four distinct skills) for a Mission played on 2/10/2009 at 2:36:02 PM. Specifically, this Mission was Obstacle Course II, played at Level D, with the Topic of Number and Operations, including the following skills: Compare Fractions, Compare Whole Numbers, Equivalent Fractions, and Fractions as Part/Whole. This student also played four other Missions, each of which focused on a distinct Skill.
