NARRATIVE REPORT It was Friday in the morning when we arrived at Manila. We were so tired of the long ride caused by the heavy traffic since it was Friday and we weren’t informed of the Friday Mass weekly held in Quiapo church. The bus dropped us at Luneta Park that gave us time to reminisce Manila and feel the ambiance of Rizal Park until we decided to come inside the National Museum of Anthropology which was the main reason of us going there. The National Museum of Anthropology really amazed each one of us as we stepped inside the galleries. As we went on the first floor, there we found many things that are invented and once used by our early ancestors. Plus, the transportations used in the earliest times of trading with other places. The ship with the realistic image of the Chinese traders was there, too. We personally saw the things that we only see in the books and internet and the things we just imagined by our previous teachers who described them. We saw the important things that the Filipinos are proud of. On the second floor of the museum, the dark room caught our attentions that made us excited to come inside: we saw different jars/ “banga” made by the Ancient Filipinos like the popular burial thing called, Manungol jar and some rectangular shape made of woods where the ancient Filipinos place the dead bodies. We were also able to see peculiar jars like the so-called “Masuso Jar” that was shaped like the breast of women. Also on the second floor, we have found there that there are so many instruments that are once used in our country. There are guitar - like musical instruments and a huge drum, too. The utensils and medicinal oils are also impressive, for we have learned that our early ancestors are truly an expert when it comes to identifying which plant is useful and which one are poisonous. In addition, we also found there the stones that are used to avoid bad spirits and other bad elements at home. On the third floor, we have found the different mechanisms and weaving machines used by our ancestors. There we also found the different types of fabrics that are used. Aside from this, we also found there the old scriptures and alphabets used and found in different regions across the country. We are also able to see the images of some creatures endemic to our country that are now in the verge of extinction.

The National Museum of Anthropology are filled with the old and significant things in our country but it made us put in realization that we can learn something new from the old things. The time that we went inside the different rooms, we were astonished, especially when we stepped on the second floor of the museum. The room was so dark and the lights are only for the jars or the "banga" and then we pointed our toes to see what was inside of that jar and it was so creepy seeing inside of them because we have seen bones and skull of a human. We learned so much thing by the Ancient Filipino’s inventions during their time, most especially the creativity in doing so much useful things for them. We are so much stunned by everything we saw in the museum and we are glad that the government of the Philippines can provide these educational museums for free that the students could easily enter without thinking of the money. We honestly couldn’t believe that the government could give something as splendid as this.
