Answer Calculator Inactive C D B C B B Calculator Active A A C D B B B D D B D Calculator Inactive Part A: 76.21 – 32.44 = 43.77 Part B: In order to solve for the unknown in an equation, I need to isolate the variable. In order to get the variable by itself, I need to subtract 32.44. To keep the equation balanced, I also need to subtract 32.44 from 76.21. 76.21 minus 32.44 equals 34.77. I can check my answer by substituting 34.77 for x, to see if the two sides are equal. 34.77 + 32.44 = 76.21, so I know that my answer is correct. Calculator Inactive Part A: 90 • 0.20 = 18. $18. Part B: In order to find the percent of a number, I need to first change the percent into a decimal. 20% is the same 20 as , which is 0.20. Then, I multiply the decimal by 100 the original cost of the jacket. 0 .20 • 90 = 18. So, Josiah subtracts $18 from the cost of the jacket.

6.2.C.1.a

Calculator Active

Part A:

Part B: I first used my ruler to make a straight line that was 4 cm long. I then used my protractor to make a 50˚. I lined up the 4 cm line with the line at the bottom of the protractor, making sure that the endpoint was in the hole at the bottom of the protractor. I then found 50˚ on the protractor, and put a point. Then, I used my ruler to connect the endpoint of the first line segment with the point I made at 50˚ with a straight line. I measured the new line to make sure it was 7 cm. Then, I used my ruler to connect the opposite endpoints of the two triangle sides. This new line was the third side of the triangle.

6.3.C.1.b

The angle measurements would remain the same, but the length of the sides would double. I know that there are 180˚ in every triangle, and since the given angle stays the same, the other angles will remain the same. The two given sides have doubled, so the third side will also double. Calculator Active Part A: 50 • 10 • 40 = 20,000 cm3 Part B: I know that the formula for finding volume is V = l • w • h In order to estimate the answer, I rounded each measurement to the nearest tens place. 48 rounds to 50, 13 rounds to 10, and 38 rounds to 40. So, V = 50 • 10 • 40 = 20,000. Actual Volume = 23,712 cm3 To find the actual volume, I used the same formula, but substituted the actual values. V = 48 • 13 • 38 = 23,712
