I know that in a frequency table, the intervals must all have the same difference. In Jessica’s table, the difference in the first interval 10 – 20 is 10 The difference in all of the other intervals (21 – 30, 31 – 40, 41 – 50) is only 9. My intervals all have a difference of 9, so my frequency table is correct. Calculator Inactive Part A: 9

Part B: I know that I need to multiply, so first I need to change both mixed numbers to improper fractions. To change them, I need to multiply the denominator by Copyright © 2006 National Training Network

MSA Review Grade 6 Week 3 the whole number, and add the numerator. This will give me the new numerator, and the denominator 1 7 3 stays the same. 3 becomes , and 2 becomes 2 2 4 11 . To multiply, I multiply the numerators together, 4 and the denominators together. 7 • 11 = 77, and 2 • 77 4 = 8. My answer is . I change this to a mixed 8 number by dividing. 77 ÷ 8 = 9 with a remainder of 5. 5 My final answer is 9 . 8 1 7 3 11 Because it is the same amount of flour, I still use , 4 2 2 but the number of batches is now 2 . 2 is the 3 3 8 11 8 88 same as . When I multiply and I get . This 3 4 3 12 is improper, so to change it to a mixed number, I have to divide. 88 ÷ 12 = 7 with a remainder of 4. My 4 mixed number is 7 . I know that 4 and 12 both 12 have a factor of 4, so I can simplify to 1 7 . 3
