PHYSICAL STUDY OF THE STEAM GENERATION Theory A steam generating unit is composed of a boiler furnace and some of all various accessories essential to its efficiency of steam generation. These accessories are fuel burning equipment, superheater, reheater coil economizer, an air heater. The boiler from which water or other liquid vaporizer may be classified according to: 1. Methods of firing, as internally and externally fired 2. Water tube or fire tube 3. Vertical, horizontal, and inclined arrangement of tube 4. Stationary, marine and locomotive 5. Straight tube and curve tube 6. Return tabular and through tube 7. Vertical-baffle and horizontal-baffle 8. High pressure and low pressure 9. Longitudinal-drum and cross-drum Objectives To make a thorough study of a steam generating units and all accessories associated in it. Apparatus STEAM GENERATOR

Procedure: 1. Generator vibration measurement 2. Temperature rise test 3. Bearing temperature rise at no load and full load 4. Efficiency at 100% load, 75% load, 50% load at rated power factor 5. Generator sustained short circuit tests 6. Dielectric tests 7. Windings insulation resistance test and voltage withstandtesttest 8. Full load wave analysis 9. Voltage and current phase balance 10. Rotor balancing test (during manufacture) 11. Overspeed test (120% for 2 min) 12. Overload test (110% for 2 hours) Findings 1. Dielectric test of main and auxiliary circuits 2. Test of mechanical operation 3. Test of electric operation of auxiliary circuits, check synchronizing, simulated auto/manual transfer sequence and interlocks, etc. 4. Voltage transformer and current transformer ratio and polarity check 5. Protection relay secondary injection 6. Bus-duct temperature rise test 7. Bus-duct high voltage test Observation This content guides you through all the necessary stages in the production of the electric generators, including the material, final inspection, preservation and packing, and dispatch to site. Conclusion Therefore, the boiler will produce greater energy depending on the condition of it.
