How to convert fractions in to Decimals!! This Presentation is all about how to convert fractions into decimals. By Matty Young
I will now explain how to convert fractions into decimals. • To convert the fraction of ¾ into a decimal. • Find a number you can multiply by the bottom of the fraction to make it 10,100,1000. • Multiply both top and bottom by the number. • Then write down just the top number, putting the decimal place in the correct spot, (one space from the right for every zero in the bottom number!) • We can multiply 4 by 25 to become 100 • Multiply top and bottom by 25.
• 3 x 25 = 75 & 4 x 25 =100 • We need to put in the decimal place which is two spaces to the right as we used 100 which has two zeros • The answer is 0.75
Calculate what ½ is as a decimal • To convert the fraction of ½ into a decimal. • Find a number you can multiply by the bottom of the fraction to make it 10,100,1000. • Multiply both top and bottom by the number. • Then write down just the top number, putting the decimal place in the correct spot, (one space from the right for every zero in the bottom number!)
• 2 x 5 = 10 & 1x 5 = 5 • We need to put in the decimal place which has one space to the right as we used 10 which has one zero • The answer is 0.5
