Hi I’m your friend ! We will have new things to learn in such an easy and very fun way. All you need to do is open your mind, senses and your heart to totally acquire and fully understand the different activities about the lesson that will makes you one of the best in your Mathematics class. Always remember you cannot be a good Mathemathecian without understanding , analyzing, hardworking and focusing in solving problems and equation. You can do it, just do your best shoot and believe in yourself that you can do it !!! GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND…………… Jumble the words to know our topic today. Put the correct words in the box. TIP : It has something to do with Equality.
Teach yourself .
Just like what the saying goes …….. “AN APPLE A DAY , MAKES THE DOCTOR AWAY .” Making notes and information about the lesson will helps you understand better the lesson . TAKE NOTE :
Ratio is a comparison between the number of elements of two sets. Example : Alden has 5 pencils and 10 crayons. What do you think will be the ratio of pencils to crayons ? Ratio can be expressed by using colon:5 : 10 or as fraction : 5 / 10 .
As a rule , ratios should be expressed in simplest form, just like fractions. Changing ratios to simplest form is like reducing fractions to lowest terms. So, 5 / 10 willbecome ½.
Proportion is a pair of equivalent ratios. Example: There are 15 dogs and 10 cats . Give the ratios. 15 : 10 There are 6 girls and 4 boys. Give the ratio. 6 :4 The proportion is:15 : 10= 6 : 4
15 : 10 = 6 : 4 means extremes
One method of checking a proportion is through the product test. If the product of the means is equal to the product of the extremes, then the pair of ratios forms a proportion. Example : We multiply the two means which is 10 and 6 so : 10 x 6 = 60. Then we multiply the two extremes which is 15 and 4 so : 15 x 4 = 60. The product of two ratios – 15 : 10 and 6 : 4 are the same 60 so we can say that the two ratios are proportions.
