MINI BIO
Martti Ahtisaari was born on June 23, 1937 in Viipuri, Finland (Vyborg, Russia).
His father was taken to be the army mechanic, so he and his mother moved to Kuopio.
1960, he moved to Karachi, Pakistan to lead YMCA’s physical education training establishment.
Returned to Finland in 1963.
Joined Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland in 1965.
Married Eeva Irmeli Hyvarinen in 1968.
He became the 10th president of Finland in 1994.
