Early Voting Starts April 27th, Election Day is May 9th.

“As your Councilmember, I will be your tireless champion for strong, safe neighborhoods. I will be an advocate for my district and a watch dog of your tax dollars.” Dear Friends, I moved to Dallas 32 years ago with my husband, Fred, to start a business. We’ve raised our children, Richard and Jane, and have seen them off to college. From the beginning I have been involved as an active volunteer and community leader.

Ann and Fred Margolin with their daughter, Jane, son, Richard, and dog, Gonzo.

Shortly after moving to Dallas, I joined the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce. That's where I met Jerry Bartos, who asked me to co-chair his campaign for City Council in 1987. When Jerry took office he asked me to serve on the City Plan Commission where critical issues of zoning are decided. Several years later County Judge Lee Jackson asked me to join the Parkland Hospital Board where I spent 6 years. I was honored to spend the last 2 years as the Chairman of the Board having been elected to that position by my fellow board members. As Chairman, I went over the $305 million budget line by line, looking for ways to save money, provide more efficient service, and protect the taxpayer. Mitchell Rasansky asked me to serve on the Park and Recreation Board which allowed me the privilege of working with many neighborhood associations and crime watch groups. When drug dealers and other criminals invaded our parks at night, I brought together the neighborhood, park department and police to help make our parks safe for everyone. As your Councilmember, I will be your tireless champion for strong, safe neighborhoods. I will be an advocate for my district and a watch dog of your tax dollars. I want to hear from you! Please take a moment to complete the enclosed survey - and I hope you’ll also support my campaign by returning the enclosed support card or go to my website at www.AnnMargolin.com.

ANN MARGOLIN. The only candidate with a record of tackling the tough issues facing our community.

Budget Watch Dog.

As a businesswoman, I know how important it is to use tax dollars wisely. As Parkland Hospital board Chairman I managed a $305 million budget. Having spent time at City Hall, I see opportunities to pare down the budget and eliminate waste.

Ruben Esquivel, Former Board Chairman, Parkland Hospital “Ann served on the Parkland Board for six years, two of those as Chairman of the Board. From the beginning she paid close attention to the budget, scrutinizing it line by line, looking for ways to save money and provide more effective services. She wanted to protect both the Dallas County taxpayers as well as the people served.”

Strong, Safe Neighborhoods.

I have lived in District 13 for 25 years and I will be a full-time advocate for District 13. I will fight for strong, safe neighborhoods – reduced crime, great parks, paved streets and alleys. I have lived in District 13 and know it well. As a Park Board member I worked with neighborhoods and police to make our parks cleaner and safer. As a Plan Commission member I fought intrusive zoning that would harm the value of our homes.

Ross Coulter, Walnut Hill Neighborhood Leader “Ann stepped in to help clear our neighborhood park of drug dealers. Her energy and determination brought neighbors, police and park officials together. The result was more police patrols of the park leading to multiple arrests. She understands how the city operates and knows what resources are available to improve neighborhoods. Ann’s efforts meant a lot to our residents and helped make Peter Pan Park safer for everyone.”

Building for the future.

I am extremely optimistic about the future of Dallas. Although we are in tough times, we are in the best position of any city in the U.S. to move forward. To keep our economy vibrant and grow our tax base we must attract businesses that create jobs. Development will help reduce the tax burden on homeowners, but it must be the kind of development our neighborhoods want.
