Pre-Scientific Management Era(Prior to 1880) 

The moment people begin to live & work together, organization & management come into exist. Therefore, management is as old as human civilian. The great wall of china, the egypt pyraminds amply demonstrate that large projects requiring managerial skills were undertaken thousands of years ago

Stages of Management Modern management thought has developed through several stages. These stages may be classified into three categories. These are: Classical approach  Neo-classical approach  Modern approach 

Classical approach (1880-1930) 

It concern primarily with the structure and activities of formal organization. It focuses attention on the functions and skills of managers and highlights the universal nature of management.

Neo-classical approach Basically neo-classical approach can be divided into two parts i.e.  Human relation approach  Behavioral science approach

Modern approach Modern approach further can divide into three categories i.e.  Quantitative approach  Systems approach (i.e. physical, mechanical, biological & social)  Contingency approach
