Mac BFD Release Notes FXpansion BFD Monday 8 September 2003 ============================== Manual Mac Installation ============================== Whilst we recommend using the supplied BFD install programs on each DVD, you can also install BFD by just dragging and dropping its various components to the correct folders by following these instructions. This is somewhat masochistic, but may help you if you are having problems installing BFD.Note that some components such as the standalone BFD application require other components to work. DVD 1: 1) Copy the BFD folder to /Library, or where ever you wish the BFD data to reside. As BFD streams enormous amounts of data from your hard drives, we recommend that you place the BFD data on a different hard drive to your operating system. If you defragment the drive beforehand, you will get better performance. 2) The plugins and applications are inside the MacOSX folder on the DVD called BFD_INSTALL_DVD_1. * VSTi [REQUIRED] Copy the plugin files inside the MacX_VSTi folder to your VST plugins folder (such as /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST). You MUST install the VSTi BFD plugins for any of the other formats to work. * Audio Units [OPTIONAL] Copy the plugin files inside the MacX_AU folder to your AU components folder (such as /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components). * RTAS [OPTIONAL] Copy the plugin files inside the MacX_RTAS folder to your RTAS folder (such as /Library/Audio/Plugins/Digidesign) * Standalone Application [OPTIONAL, requires BFD Audio Unit] Copy the files inside the MacX_Standalone to your /Applications folder. * ReWire [OPTIONAL, requires BFD VSTi] There are 3 files in the MacX_ReWire folder on the DVD. "Rewire" and "BfdReWireShlbX" must be copied to "/Library/Application Support". The BfdRewireApplet should be copied to your /Applications folder. Run the app to register the BFD ReWire version. 3) The BFD manual, in the folder BFD_INSTALL_DVD_1/Docs, should be copied to /Library/Documentation/FXpansion/BFD. DVD 2: 1) Copy the second DVD's BFD folder to the same target folder that you copied the first DVD's BFD data folder. When you run BFD for the first time, you will be prompted to give BFD
the location of the BFD data folder, after which BFD will happily acquaint itself with its drum sounds.
