Write the number 100.000 and the word Hundred Thousand on the white board. • Assess pupils undestanding by getting them to fill up place value of given numbers. • Use the same numbers for pupils to tell the place values of the digits in the numbers. • Write a 5 digit number and write down the values of each digit (example : in the digit 61.352, the digit 6 is in the ten thousands place. Its value is or it stands for 60.000).

Opening : • Basmallah • Write two 5 digit numbers and get pupils to place the numbers in the correct place value. Activity : • Pupils listening explanation teacher to compare the numbers by looking at the place value of each digit. The first looking at the greatest value (ten thousand). If the digits in the ten thousands place are the same, then compare the digits in the thousands. If the digits in the thousands place are the sama, then compare the digits in the hundreds. If the digits in the hundreds place are the sama, then compare the digits in the tens. If the digits in the tens place are the sama, then compare the digits in the ones. • The number with the greater digit in the place value of each digit is the greater number and the number with the smaller digit in the place value of each digit is the smaller number. • Lead the class to compare numbers. • Now make them compare 4 digit numbers with 5 digit numbers. • Provide more examples and show pupils how to arrange numbers in ascending and decreasing order.
