MATAIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
(Show the milk box to the class.) “What do I have?” “This is a milk box.”
Grade Level: Learning Area: Quarter:
I MATHEMATICS 3RD QUARTER

(After cutting the box into two, show it to the class.)
“How many parts of box was made?” (Explain and discuss the new lesson (1/2).) (After discussing cut the two parts into two equal parts again.)
“Now, how many parts of box was made?” (Explain and discuss the new lesson (1/4).) (Group Activity) Game: Sort Me Fast (Divide the class into two groups. Explain the game mechanics.) Game Mechanics. Give each group a set of 10 pictures showing ½ and ¼ part of a whole. Tell them to sort the pictures according to what it represents, ½ or ¼. Use FISHBONE in sorting the pictures.
1/2 1/4
Each member of the group will take one picture and pin it to its corresponding fraction. The first group do the task faster and no mistake wins.
E.Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2
(Individual Activity) (Give each pupil an activity card.) Encircle the picture that represents ½ and box those represent ¼.
F. Developing Mastery
(Group Activity) (Give each group materials to be used.) Star-shaped Paper Circle-shaped Paper Triangle-shaped Paper Rectangle-shaped Paper Oval-shaped Paper Instruction: Using scissor, cut the: Star-shaped Paper in a fraction of 1/2 Circle-shaped Paper in a fraction of 1/2 Triangle-shaped Paper in a fraction of 1/4 Rectangle-shaped Paper in a fraction of 1/2 Oval-shaped Paper in a fraction of 1/4
G.Finding Practical application of concepts and skills in daily living
If your Mother gave you hamburger and she asked you to share it with your younger brother, how will you slice the burger? Draw a line.
H.Making generalization and abstraction about the lesson
Help the pupils in generalizing the lesson. “How can we identify the ½ and ¼ part of a whole?
