Adventures In Learning It’s how you deal with people that defines you. On a more fundamental level, character depends on the quality if the mind. Prof. Vidal A. Tan’s essay Adventures In Learning is a timeless call to the youth to discover the wonderful world of reading. In the accumulated literary archives of ages, we have a world to explore, rich in history, abundant in folklore, overflowing with romance and replete with adventure.” However, there are those who go to college only as a compulsory requirement to find a job and get rich – which is not life is all about. “Richer living means living a life of simplicity and peace, a life that is sensitively aware of those possessions and experiences that exalt the mind and satisfy the soul – a life of simple needs and wants, belonging to a man who goes to bed every night at peace with the world, at peace with his conscience, and at peace with his God.” The achievement of that goal is the product of three factors: x (place), y (time), and z (unknown factor). The place is the university, the time is now, and the unknown quality is you, the student. “If your going to college has taught you nothing but the habit of reading good books, I would consider your time well-spent because, with that habit, you have the key to learning. The door to that great world of adventure is open to you. You need but knock to enter.” Where's the patis? People may denationalized but not his stomach. This is according to Carmen Guerero Nakpil, As filipino citizen whose hobby is eating even if we go to abroad still our native delicacies is our main food and want. Our taste as a filipino will not change by eating foreign foods. We are always keep on finding foods that appropriate to our stomach. This native foods of our own is our main wants. In general, even we go other places we should not change our personal characteristics especially in our customs and traditions. Many of the eating habits of Asians are very much alike. One instance is the penchant for sauces to go with their food so as to whet their appetite or to be able to savor completely the dish they are eating. The Thai, Indonesian, Malaysians, and Singaporeans always have spicy sauces on hand at meal time. The Filipinos, their "patis." Filipino is worth dying for I have returned on my free will to join the ranks of those struggling to restore our rights and freedoms through non-violence. I seek no confrontation. I only pray and will strive for a genuine national reconciliation founded on justice. I am prepared for the worst, and have decided against the advice of my mother, my spiritual adviser, many of my tested friends and a few of my most valued political mentors. A death sentence awaits me. Two more subversion charges, both calling for death penalties, have been filed since I left three years ago and are now pending with the courts. Three years ago when I left for an emergency heart bypass operation, I hoped and prayed that the rights and freedoms of our people would soon be restored, that living conditions would improve and that blood-letting would stop. We owe our freedom to our forefathers and heroes like jose rizal andres bonifacio and most recently with Sen Ninoy Aquino jr.. Ninoy Aquino fought mightily armed with his wits and talents but with most of our heroes he is a martyr. He sacrificed his life for millions of filipinos. He fought tirelessly against the greatest plunderer of our country, who robbed and squandered the money of many poor filipinos.

Filipinos are smart but our country have been managed by corrupt officials who disguises themselves as saviours, sometimes portraying themselves as heroes. We have to continue the legacy of ninoy. Marcoses are now back and recently have been claiming wealth which they say is “right fully theirs” filipinos are still worth dying for. ninoy
