This is a documentary about four villages in Samburu region of northern Kenya where the
woman takes their own decisions and makes their own rules.
Umoja was the first one, created in 1990 by Rebecca Lolosoli and other women after Rebecca’s
husband did not defend her from be beated.
This inspired other women to do the same, thus creating the villages of Nachami, Supa and
Nang'ida. The men here only can be accepted if they respect the rules and if they do not try to
impose their authority to the women. Many of them are not very happy to lose their tradition.
