Downtown Library Ann Packer’s debut novel, "The Dive from Clausen’s Pier," was a nationwide best seller that established her as a gifted chronicler of the interior lives of women. Her second novel, "Songs Without Words," explores the lifelong friendship of two women, the friendship that is pushed to the breaking point. Ann will discuss the novel, recently released in paperback. A book signing will follow with books f or sale courtesy of Shaman Drum Bookshop, cosponsors of this event. Ann Packer received the Great Lakes Book Award for "The Dive from Clausen’s Pier," and is a past recipient of a JamesMichener award and a National Endowment for the magazines, as well as in "Prize Stories 1992: The O. Henry Awards." She is the author of "Mendocino and Other Stories.
