Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) in 2004-2005 According to the survey conducted by the National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) in 2004-2005, the total number of workers in the country was 45.9 crore. Out of these, 43.3 crore (94%) were in the unorganized sector and the remaining 2.6 crore (6%) were in the organized sector. State-wise details of labour force in organized sectors are given in the Table:
