IS BACK!

he story began in 1976, when a group of jazz music enthusiast from Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Indonesia addressed their youth spirit to create

a simple jazz event as an attempt to spread and celebrate their love of jazz. The very first Jazz Goes to Campus started with only one stage and attended by only 200 audiences.

It’s a music that since it’s beginning has expressed the feelings, the dreams, hopes of the people.

Since then, every year-for almost nearly four decades, Jazz Goes to Campus has always been continually improving its qualities and expanding its program. Jazz Goes To Campus embraces change and most of all, growth. The number of attendance has centupled into more than 20.000 audiences on previous year’s edition. Jazz Goes to Campus has transformed from a very humble music festival into one of the most anticipated jazz music festival in Indonesia, even the world. The 38th Jazz Goes to Campus does not only consist of a single day euphoric festival, but also a series of pre-events that consists of several programs, which will be held across Jakarta and Solo before the festival. For the festival itself, The 38th Jazz Goes to Campus will present more

than 35 local and international musicians performing on four stages and also Jazz Museum as a means of spreading the love of jazz. Having “The Thrill is Back” as its tagline, The 38th Jazz Goes to Campus aim to be an euphoric event, by giving a THRILLING experience to all.

4 A journey of a thousand mile begins with a single step. We will commemorate The 38th Jazz Goes to Campus by arranging The JGTC Opening & Press Conference the purpose of which to tell the media what are we going to bring this year.

Having a goal to motivate young talented jazz musicians in Indonesia, we are bringing back the nation’s most talented jazz musicians to share their experience—and most of all, to inspire younger musicians who will continue their legacy in jazz.

Spreading the love of jazz is our main trigger to keep creating JGTC Roadshow in every side of Indonesia, and this year, we choose Solo as the city of our jazz celebration.

As a proof of our awareness in social responsibility, The 38th Jazz Goes to Campus will give something positive through a social action known as JGTC Scholarship, the funds of which will be raised in the JGTC Gatherings and Charity Night.

‘Appreciation’ is the most important goal of Jazz Goes to Campus that has made it stronger throughout the years. With JGTC Community Night, we strive to give something as a token of appreciation to the people who never stop contributing to the development of Jazz in Indonesia.

In The 38th Jazz Goes to Campus, one of our missions is to expose talented jazz musicians. We will give opportunities for some jazz bands to compete with one another, not only to astound juries, but also to amaze all the audience by expressing their love of jazz.
