Cherie Koss ESL Teacher Goose Bay Elementary School My educational credentials include a B.A, M.A., and Russian Area Studies Certificate from the University of Wisconsin and most recently a Masters in Teaching from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. Years ago I studied in a summer Russian language program at “Leningrad State University” and received an American Council on International Education grant to study Serbo-Croatian in Yugoslavia for a year. I have traveled in Russia, Europe, Australia, and China and taught every age from 3 year olds to college in a variety of places. Most recently I taught Russian at Wasilla High School in Wasilla, Alaska and just this year took a position teaching English language learners in a K-2 school with two thirds of my students being of Russian heritage. I am a member of ACTR, ASTE (Alaska Society for Technology in Education) and the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education. My projects for the Fulbright GPA 2008 thus far include Russian verb conjugations, Russian signs, a city-community brochure unit, and Russian pen-pal project. I am currently working on a larger project on Russian culture that involves extensive use of photos taken on the Fulbright trip. The Fulbright program was an incredible opportunity to live with Russian families and to study, observe, and reflect on life and social change in post-Soviet Russia. Thank you again for everythingCherie
