-BUILD UP HOPE IN LOUISVILLE - Ridgewood Baptist Church is a community of faith located in Pleasure Ridge Park on the Southwest side of Louisville. Hit hard by the ongoing economic crisis, this dynamic, progressive voice of faith in Southwest Jefferson County was facing its darkest times financially. Highland Baptist Church followed God’s leadership to partner with this congregation to “Build up Hope” and re-start this congregation by providing pastoral leadership and volunteer support to ease the financial burdens. Twelve months after starting the partnership, Highland expanded its role by leading Ridgewood to seek financial support from multiple sources, including Kentucky Baptist Fellowship and Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, to help financially support a community pastor at Ridgewood - continuing to Build Up Hope in Southwest Jefferson County. Where once a faith community saw despair, they now see hope through the hands and feet of the Kentucky Baptist Fellowship.

BUILD UP HOPE IN McCREARY COUNTY - Paula Sharon knew where she wanted her home to be built on Williamsburg Street in Whitley City. She knew where she wanted rooms for her sons Travis and Stephen to face, where she wanted her kitchen window to look out, even where she wanted her garage to sit. What Paula did not know is how long she would have to wait until she could afford to build her dream home on her property she owned in McCreary County. Extreme Build - the unique partnership between Kentucky Baptist Fellowship, Kentucky Highland Investment Corporation and McCreary County Community Housing Development Corporation - came alongside Paula to “Build up Hope.” Today, Paula and her sons live comfortably as new homeowners and as a family of hope. BUILD UP HOPE IN MOROCCO - In 2006, Kentucky Baptist Fellowship began a partnership with the Protestant church in Morocco (Eglise Evangelique au Maroc). Three years into the venture, our shared desire to “Build up hope” was realized as seventeen Kentuckians traveled to Morocco for a music exchange with twenty-four students representing the congregations of the EEAM (known as the Voices United Choir). Words do not sufficiently describe all that was shared in North Africa, but the blessing of friendship the Voices United choir received while building up hope in Morocco is central to the story of Africa.

“BUILD UP HOPE” The annual Kentucky Baptist Fellowship Missions Offering is about hope. We build up hope every time we form a new relationship as Kentucky Baptist Fellowship. We build up hope when we are the “special people” God has called us to be, working together to accomplish more than we ever could alone. Your offering of financial gifts allows Kentucky Baptist Fellowship to continue to “Build Up Hope” across Kentucky and beyond. Our target date for receiving the KBF Mission Offering is October 11, 2009. Gifts from this year’s missions offering will be divided in three ways: 1) Mountain Hope, KBF’s rural poverty initiative, part of CBF’s Together For Hope, 2) Morocco Partnership, KBF’s global partnership with the Protestant church in Morocco, and 3) Church Start/Re-start, KBF’s ongoing commitment to cultivating Christian community.

Together we’re building up hope in Kentucky. Together we’re building up hope in communities as far as Africa. Together...we are building up hope sharing our commitment to the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.

Sincerely,

John Lepper, Coordinator

Joshua Speight, Associate Coordinator for Missions
