John Locke: I think John Locke’s theory is right because he believes that human nature is the cause for people's bad actions. You aren’t just born evil something could happen in your life that made you a not so nice person.
Article 1. https://fee.org/articles/john-locke-is-needednow-more-than-ever/ This article fits my argument because in the article it says that “ He asked the reader to follow him in a “mental experiment” and imagine an original “state of nature” before the formation of “society” or the creation of government. “ He then goes on to to say that “In this state of nature each man is independent and a sovereign over his own life. He lives as he wants and uses the resources that he finds for his own purposes.” (FFE)
Article 2. https://theconversation.com/should-we-judge-people-fortheir-past-moral-failings-111146 This article fits my argument because it talks about what makes an individual at one time the very same person as an individual at another time. It also talk about how “Locke believed that individuals deserve blame for a crime committed in the past because they are basically the same person that did the last crime. But a person would still be responsible for any of the alleged actions of a younger self.” (Andrew Khoury)
Article 3. http://www.inquiriesjournal.com/articles/75/john-locke-onequality-toleration-and-the-atheist-exception This article supports my opinion because it talks about how Locke thinks man lives in a state of nature, mother nature is the outcome of how your future will turn out. God doesn’t make you “evil” but you can do that to yourself.
