John Lennon Early Days: 1940–1960 John Winston Lennon was born in Liverpool, England,on october 1940. After John turned 5 years old, His mother married again ,so Julia left John with her sister Mimi. John was seventeen when his mother died, she was runover by drunk policeman In 1957, during a performance on a party, a friend of John introduced him to Paul McCartney, John invited Paul to join the band ,because he knew how to play the guitar George Harrison later joined the band ,when they realized they needed a drumer Pete Best joined . They decided Ringo Starr should join the band.

The Beatles: 1962–70 On 9 May 1962, George Martin signed The Beatles to EMI's label, Parlophone. On 11 February 1963, the group recorded their first album Please Please Me in one day.[ In 1966 the band decided to stop touring. Lennon met Yoko Ono in 1967.

Just as The Beatles released their final album,Abbey Road, Lennon left the group in September 1969. Solo Career His album Imagine followed in 1971, and the title song would later become an anthem for anti-war movements. On 31 August 1971, Lennon left England for New York, and released the "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" single in December 1971 Murder On the night of 8 December 1980, at around 10:50 pm, Mark David Chapman shot Lennon in the back four times in the entrance of the Dakota apartment building. Earlier that evening, Lennon had autographed a copy of Double Fantasy for Chapman ,who had been stalking Lennon since October. Lennon was pronounced dead at 11:07 pm.
