SMPS – Switch Mode Power Supply – alternates the power supply in certain time intervals UPS – Uninterrupted Power Supply – it is back power in case of power cuts Heat Sink – piece of metal, dissipates heat from circuits/chip Motherboard – board on which the various circuits and peripherals are attached BIOS  Basic Input & Output  it detects all that is connected to the computer  loads all things to the memory OS –  Operating System  Loads processes into the memory  Interface between man and the machine  Also decides what the system can do & not do  Eg: Windows & Linux Booting: the process of loading all the software on the memory
