Imam Jaffer E Sadiq (AS)

Adapted from Al Khisal Sheikh Sadooq Fatima Ali

Jannatul Baqi

Umar bin Jubair describes al-Baqi as he saw it during his travel to Madina, saying "Al-Baqi is situated to the east of Madina. You enter it through the gate known as the gate of al-Baqi. As you enter, the first grave you see on your left is that of Safiya, the Prophet's aunt, and further still is the grave of Malik bin Anas, the Imam of Madina. On his grave is raised a small dome. In front of it is the grave of Ibrahim son of our Prophet (s) with a white dome over it, and next to it on the right is the grave of Abdul-Rahman son of Umar bin al-Khattab, popularly known as Abu Shahma, whose father had kept punishing him till death overtook him. Facing it are the graves of Aqeel bin Abi Talib and Abdullah bin Ja'far al-Tayyar. There, facing those graves is a small shrine containing the graves of the Prophet's wives, following by a shrine of Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib. The grave of Hasan bin Ali (a), situated near the gate to it's right hand, has an elevated dome over it. His head lies at the feet of Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib, and both graves are raised high above the ground, their walls are panelled with yellow plates and studded with beautiful star-shaped nails. This is how the grave of Ibrahim, son of the Prophet (s) has also been adorned. Behind the shrine of Abbas there is the house attributed to Fatima, daughter of our Prophet (s), known as "Bayt al-Ahzaan" (the house of grief) because it is the house she used to frequent in order to mourn the death of her father, the chosen one, peace be upon him. At the farthest end of al-Baqi is the grave of the caliph Uthman, with a small dome over it, and there, next to it, is the grave of Fatima bint Asad, mother of Ali b. Abi Talib (a)"

Days of the week

Imam Jaffer E Sadiq (AS) said “---No that is not so. They have lied about the Prophet (AS) having said that since Ahad which means Sunday is on of the names of the Honorable and Exalted God.' 'Indeed the Blessed and Sublime God already knew the day on which He would appoint His Prophet (AS), and the day on which the Prophet's Trustee (AS) would be oppressed. Thus, it was named after these two.' 'God created Hell on Tuesday as the Sublime God says. “Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false! Depart ye to a shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns, (which yeilds) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze”.' 'The four pillars of fire were made on wednesday.' 'God created paradise on thursday.' 'The Honorable the Exalted God gathered the people together on fridays to acknowledge our mastery.' 'It was on a saturday that the angels attended to their Lord and realized that He has always been the one.' p 632

Angels with golden pens and silver tablets

Aba Abdullah as-Sadiq (AS) also said 'Angels who carry golden pens and silver tablets descend to the earth on Thursday nights and Fridays. They only record the reward of sending blessings upon Muhammad and his household on Thursday nights and Fridays. It is not recommended to go after your needs on Fridays before the Friday prayers, but it is fine to do so afterwards.'

Start Journey on Saturday

Imam Jaffer E Sadiq (AS) said 'Whoever wants to go on a journey should start on a Saturday since God would return any rocks that may get loose and are about to separate from the hills to their original locations on saturdays.' 'The God's Prophet (AS) prayed and said “O God! Please bless Saturday mornings and Thursday mornings for my nation.”' p 650

The Suffering of Job

Imam Jaffer E Sadiq (AS) said 'Job (AS) suffered for seven years without having committed any sins.' 'Job (AS) did not look bad or smell bad even though he suffered from a lot of calamities. He did not have any pus or bleeding, even as small as the size of the tip of a pen. No one found him filthy and no one was afraid of him. There were no insects growing anywhere in or on his body. This is how the Honorable and Exalted God treats His dear Prophets (AS). The people did not associate with Job (AS) because he was poor and weak and out of their ignorance. They did not know what a great rank he (AS) had near his Sublime Lord! The prophet (AS) said, “The people who suffer the worst hardships are the Prophets, those next in rank, then those after them and so forth.” The Honorable and Exalted God had Job (AS) suffer so much that he was belittled in the eyes of the people so that they would not worship him (AS) when they saw the endless blessings of God in his hands. This was done so that the people realize there are two kinds of rewards and punishments from the Sublime Lord. One is an especial way as a grant and the second way due to worthiness and servitude. This was done so that the people never belittle the poor and or the ill. P 662

The reward of whoever goes on hajj 50 times Imam Jaffer E Sadiq (AS) said

'God will build a city in Paradise for whoever goes on the Hajj pilgrimage fifty times. In that city there will be one hundred thousand palaces, and there will be one of the houri-eyed women of Paradise and one thousand women in each palace. He will be one of Muhammad (AS) friends in Paradise'.

'Astaghfirullaha wa atoobu ilyhi'

Imam Jaffer E Sadiq (AS) said 'Whoever says the Al-witr prayers at the end of the night and says 'I ask God for forgiveness and I repent'. Seventy times while standing up and perseveres thereon for one year will be recorded amongst those who ask for forgiveness at dawn by God and his forgiveness by God becomes certain'. P 1000

Salat al-Lail is 11 Rak`at in which: 1. The first 8 Rak`at are prayed in four Salat of two Rak`at each with the intention of Salat al-Lail (after each two Rak`at, give the Salam, finish the Salat and then stand for the next set of Salat.) 2. Following this, two Rak`at would be read with the intention of Salat ashShaf` (this Salat is performed exactly as Salatul Fajr). 3. Once this is recited, one Rak`at with the intention of Salat al-Witr would be recited. In this Salat, recite Surah Al-Fatiha once, Surah al-Ikhlas three times followed by Surah al-Falaq and Surah al-Nas once each. Once this part of the Salat is finished, we raise our hands in Qunut such that our palms are facing the sky and our hands are level with our eyes and perform the following.

Salatul Lail http://www.al-islam.org/salatallail/

1. Recite the following 70 times: ‫أستغفر الله ربي وأتوب إليه‬ “I seek repentance from Allah, my Lord and to Him I turn back.” 2. Followed by reciting the following seven times: ‫ذي ل ! إل!ه إل هو الحي القيوم وأتوب إليه‬$‫أستغفر الله ال‬ “I seek repentance from Allah the One whom there is no god except Him, the Living and Self-Subsisting and to Him I turn back.” [36] 3. One of the most important acts in the Qunut of the Salat al-Witr is supplication for forty believers (men or women) amongst one’s family, friends, those who have asked to be prayed for, the deceased and the Shi`a of Amir Al-Mo’minin `Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him). Whosoever does this will be assured that his supplications are answered. [37] 4. One should then say the following three hundred times: ‫العفو‬ “I ask for forgiveness.” 5. Following this, the following should be said once: ‫حيم‬$‫و!اب الر‬$‫ك أنت الت‬$‫ اغفرلي وارحمني وتب علي إن‬$‫رب‬ “Lord, please forgive me and have mercy upon me and turn back towards me. Verily You are the Oft-Turning back, Most Merciful” [38]
