Numbering Scheme The numbering scheme used for tickets, which will identify a parent and a student, should minimize the quantity of numbers to deal with and also minimize the quantity of characters that a student must type into the system. Here are the rules that must be satisfied with the numbering scheme. The phrase “within the IBNU system” is understood for each rule. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Each Parent must have a number that is unique. Each Student must have a number that is unique for a given Parent. Each ticket must be unique for a given Student (previously unused). Ticket numbers must be difficult to calculate (fairly safe against fraud). Ticket numbers must be self-checking to overcome dyslexia.

Note: Use any generally useful and secure encoding scheme, but break up the resulting number in to easily typed groups like the four-digit breaks in a credit card number.
