SESSION I A. INTRODUCTION - WHY WORSHIP GOD 1. The heart cry of the Father will never be fulfilled not until true worshippers are raised up in the body of Christ. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. John 4:23

2.

A life that is so close to Him. God wants us to draw near to Him so that He can draw near to us and thus fulfill that desire for intimate fellowship that He is longing for. And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, "Where are you? Gen 3:8,9

3.

We are the temple of the HOLY SPIRIT. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 1 Cor 6:19

4.

We are created in His image. To desire for God only. As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? Ps 42:1-2 And God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Exo 20:1-6

DEFINITION OF WORSHIP 1.

Worship means ‘to ascribe worth or value, or to count worthy to God.

2. Worship is giving to God, especially of our total self. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.Rom 12:1-2

5. Worship is the outpouring or outflowing of our whole being, spirit, soul and body, under a sense of Divine favour in the presence of God. Jesus said to him," 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind”. Matt 22:37

E.

WORSHIP IS A DIVINE CYCLE OF GIVING Worship completes a divine cycle of giving when we consider that the spiritual life that flows from God to us, returns to Him in worship from us, and thus the divine cycle is complete. It could be presented as follows: GOD (Father)

HOLY SPIRIT

JESUS (Son)

MAN 1.

It all started with God Who gave His all to man through Jesus Christ. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

2.

Jesus gave His all to us (His life). I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. John 10:11 Life Building Station: How To Develop Personal Worship: Session I

3.

Man gives his all (in worship) back to God by the help of the Holy Spirit. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Rom 12:1 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve. Luke 4:8

4.

God gives more back to man through Jesus. John 10:30 I and My Father are one. John 8:19 Know Me, know My Father.

SESSION II A.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU WORSHIP (YOUR SOUL’S RESPONSE & EXPRESSIONS) 1. To worship is to quicken the consciousness by the holiness of God. 2. To feed the mind with the truth of God. 3. To purge the imagination by the beauty of God. 4. To open the heart to the love of God 5. To devote the will to the purpose of God.

B.

WORSHIP IS “A FLOW” IN THE HOLY SPIRIT (YOUR SPIRIT’S RESPONSE & EXPRESSIONS) 1.

Trusting the Holy Spirit is the Key to Worship

2.

The Holy Spirit is our helper to pray and worship. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John 14:26

3.

We are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1Cor 6:19). He is the best person to teach us all things because it is His home.

4.

Learn to develop obedience in responding to the person of the Holy Spirit. John 3:3 John 4:24 John 6: 63 John 14: 26 John 16: 13

Born of the Spirit is spirit. Must worship Him in spirit and in truth. It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. How be it when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak; and He will show you things to come.

At times the Holy Spirit leads us into prophetic expression and this will give us breakthrough in our personal walk with God, our faith and our situation.
