Overview Customers may search the Notes database in order to retrieve the latest set of fixes for a particular application area. This allows customers to perform preventative maintenance because they can apply a fix to their system before they encounter an error. This document describes how to find OSS notes and how to view new information from SAP called “Hot News.” The following example assumes that an OSS connection has been applied for, registered, and installed by the SAP customer.

Logging on to OSS 1. From anywhere within your R/3 system, enter transaction /n0SS1. 1

2. Click the Logon to the SAP Online Service System button.

3. Select the PUBLIC radio button. 4. Click Continue. 3

5. Enter your OSS user logon and password (these are assigned by SAP).

2. To search for a note, click the Find notes button.

You can find a note quickly if you know the number or range of numbers of the note(s) you wish to find. Simply enter the number(s) in the Note number field(s) and click Continue. 3. Enter the SAP-Release version or enter 30* to list notes for all 3.0 versions. 4. Place the cursor in the Application area field and click on the Possible entries icon to choose an application area. •

(Enter BCOP11 if you want to see notes relating to the Windows NT platform.)

5. You can also search for specific text by entering it in the Free text search area. For example, enter RSCLICOP to find all of the notes containing RSCLICOP (client copy). 6. Click Continue when you are ready to perform the search. 7. Click the Expand button to see all of the notes in the displayed area. 7

8. Double-click on the note you wish to read.

9. When you are through reading the note, follow the path Text → Exit to return to the list of notes. 9

10. To return to the Process Notes screen, follow the path Notes → Exit.
