DESCRIBING HOMETOWN of GRESIK

Many people know that there are many good cities in East Java. In fact, the cities are great city. One of the excellent cities in East Java is Gresik. Gresik is located in North lane . It is about an hour driving from Surabaya. Getting there is very easy, you can take a bus. It is very cheap than you take other transportations.

Gresik is well known as industrial city. It is because there are many industries in Gresik. In particular, PT. Semen Gresik is one of the big factories in Indonesia which produces cement. For another example, there is PT. Petrokimia Gresik which produces manure. A lot of home-based industry exists, making caps (songkoks), bags,rebana, weave sarong etc.

Gresik is also famous as “santri” city. “Santri” means student in Islamic boarding school. It is because there are many Islamic boarding schools in Gresik. As a result, the society is religious. Additionally, in Gresik there is a grave of Siti Fatimah binti Maemun who was proof of when Islam came in Java Island for the first time the location is in Leran village. Two of Walisongo’s graves are also in Gresik that is Sunan Giri and Maulana Malik Ibrahim.

Moreover, in Gresik, there is a beautiful beach named Dalegan beach which the sand is white sand. A ticket to get the beach is very cheap. It is only five thousand rupiahs. In Dalegan Beach, you can play flying fox, banana boat, and others. To conclude, the strategic location and tourism places make the tourist interested in going to Gresik. Beach Delgan a distance of 43km north of the town of Gresik can be reached by using private vehicles and public transport. With the support of road conditions are pretty good along the lines Manyar-Panceng, plus the scenery along the way is also quite beautiful. For example, you will pass through the longest bridge (approximately 1 kilometer) In gresik that crosses solo river. In addition, teak forest atmosphere will also be visible if you are already entering the region Panceng district. .

Gresik also has beautiful island. It is Bawean island in Bawean you will find a hall in Bawean island and source of hot water in Kota Kusuma village, Kastoba lake in Tambak village, Bhayangkara Diponggo beach in Diponggo village and marine park of Noko island in Daun village.

Gresik has many traditional food like nasi kerawu, Bandeng bakar, Otak otak bandeng, Pudak, jenang ayas. The city has a reputation for its many coffee shops, called warkop (from warung kopi). In 2002, Petrokimia Putra (owned by PT Petrokimia Gresik), a soccer club from Gresik, won their first national league title in Jakarta.

Gresik has 44-88% of humidity. The maximum humidity is 88% and the average humidity is 58%. The wind velocity of Gresik is within the range of 0–18 km/hour. The maximum wind velocity is 18 km/hour and the average is 12.6 km/hour. The temperature of this City is within the range of 23 °C-35 °C with the average temperature is 28.5 °C.

Bukit Jamur (Mushroom Rock) is located in a former limestone quarry in Bungah village, Bungah district, Gresik. Mushroom Rock is the natural phenomenon that occurs because the rocks eroded by wind and rain water then caused the stones looks like mushrooms.

Kastoba Lake is located in Peromaan village, Tambak district. To reach Kastoba lake location, we can take the way through ring road of Bawean Island from Sangkapura district towards Tambak district after reaching Tanjung Ori village, Tambak district admission about 3 Km pass the village road. The road condition is 75 % can be passed by four wheels drive at ease. The rest is still difficult to reach with four wheels drive except with wheel vehicle 2. Then for reach the lake location, through footpath, which can only be passed by foot, about 1 Km, to the forest and the road, is fluctuate hilly.
