To Whom It May Concern: I have had the pleasure of working with Heather Cook for the past two years. In the 2017-2018 school year she worked for Thomas Edison Charter School South as a third grade aide. She is currently completing her student teaching in a fourth grade classroom. Heather is an impressive individual. She has worked well with our students, other faculty and staff and it is a pleasure to have her at our school. I have been continuously impressed by how well she works with others and her ability to be a team player in all situations. Organization is one of Heather’s strengths and she is always extremely well prepared for her lessons. She understands and knows our challenging curriculum and delivers it very well. She is a fast learner and was able to pick up on our complex language arts program quickly. She does a great job of following our curriculum, but she is flexible and strives to adapt her lessons to the needs of the students. Heather is confident in her teaching and has a level of classroom management and consistency that I rarely see in student teachers and first year teachers. While Heather does not tolerate misbehavior, she is always willing to sincerely listen to students when challenges or issues arise. She is fair and consistent when it comes to discipline and she is not afraid to ask for guidance and take ideas from others. It is obvious that Heather loves teaching and cares deeply for her students. She consistently has quality interactions with her students and always has their best interest at heart. Students trust and respect her. Heather was not hired at our school because we do not have enough openings. In a different hiring year, I most definitely would have added her to our faculty. In whatever school she teaches, I know that she has the talent and heart to succeed in the education profession. She will touch the lives of many students in your school just as she has in ours. If you have further questions regarding Heather, please feel free to contact me via email (

Melani Kirk, Principal Thomas Edison Charter School South
