Dalam percakapan Bahasa Inggris sehari hari, ada banyak sekali ungkapan ungkapan yang bisa kita gunakan baik dalam mengawali suatu percakapan (“Hello” expressions) ataupun dalam mengakhiri suatu percakapan (“Bye” expressions). A) “Hello” Expressions Ungkapan yang paling pertama harus kita ketahui adalah Greetings (Salam) > Hello, Hi, Good morning, Good afternoon (Selamat Siang – Sore), Good evening (Selamat sore – malam). ***(Good night juga berarti Selamat Malam, tetapi tidak termasuk “Hello” expressions karena diucapkan ketika kita benar benar akan tidur setelahnya. Jika kita ingin mengucapkan selamat malam dan setelahnya masih ada kegiatan, gunakan saja Good Evening) Yang berikutnya adalah Asking Condition (Menanyakan Keadaan). Dalam menanyakan keadaan seseorang, ungkapan yang sangat melekat pada kita sejak bersekolah adalah How are you? – I am fine, thank you and you? Padahal untuk menanyakan keadaan pun, kita bisa menggunakan lebih banyak ungkapan. How’s everything? – I am good/ pretty good/ excellent/ good as well/ feeling OK, etc. How’s life? -- I am not in good condition/ I got fever / I’m not good at all, etc. How is it going today? How’s your day? How have you been? How do you do? Untuk How do you do?, cara meresponnya adalah dengan How do you do juga dan setelahnya bisa saja ditambahkan I am OK/ I am fine/ I am not feeling good sebagai penjelasan lebih. Sebagai tambahan, berikut saya berikan cara mengungkapkan rasa terima kasih beserta cara menanggapinya Thank you, Thank you very much, Thanks a lot, Thanks a million, Thanks for it

Ungkapan What’s up juga termasuk “Hello” expressions dan cara menanggapinya BUKAN I am fine/ I am OK, etc. TETAPI Not much/ Everything is good/ You don’t need to worry karena What’s up ungkapannya lebih mengarah ke rasa simpati terhadap permasalahan yang sedang dihadapi lawan bicara B) “Bye” expressions Adalah ungkapan atau ekspresi yang digunakan ketika kita akan mengakhiri suatu percakapan atau perbincangan. Berikut adalah beberapa contoh umumnya Good night (penjelasannya sudah saya jelaskan di part A) Good bye/ Bye Have a good/ great/ nice day See you/ See you again/ See you later/ See you soon /See you tomorrow Talk to you later

Berikutnya, materi yang akan saya berikan adalah mengenai penggunaan Subject dan Possessive Pronouns. Sebelum saya berikan penjelasan lebihnya, silahkan di garis bawahi terlebih dahulu, kata kata mana saja di bacaan berikut yang menurut kalian merupakan Subject dan Possessive Pronouns dan hitunglah berapa jumlah Subject pronouns nya dan berapa jumlah Possessive Pronouns nya (Silahkan di prediksi TANPA membuka/ melihat halaman berikutnya)

Subject Pronouns adalah kata ganti orang yang letaknya di awal kalimat sebelum kata kerja (verb) atau tobe. Misalnya saja ada kalimat Shinta is a new student. She is from Toronto. Yang termasuk Subject Pronouns adalah She (karena menggantikan Shinta). Sedangkan Possessive Pronouns adalah kata ganti kepemilikan yang setelahnya wajib ada benda yang dimiliki. Misalnya saja Shinta is a new student. She is from Toronto. Her family is in China now. Yang merupakan Possessive Pronouns adalah Her pada Her family (menjelaskan jika keluarga tersebut adalah keluarganya Shinta) SUBJECT

Kita lanjut ke materi berikutnya ya, kita akan belajar mengenai Yes/No Questions dan WH Questions Dalam Bahasa Inggris, sebenarnya ada tiga jenis pertanyaan Yes/No Questions; WH Questions dan Question Tag. Tapi di level ini saya ingin fokus dulu pada dua jenis pertanyaan karena sangat sering sekali digunakan dalam keseharian baik dalam lisan ataupun tulisan A) Yes/No Questions Disebut Yes/No Questions karena jawaban yang dibutuhkan untuk jenis pertanyaan ini adalah Yes atau No Bagaimana cara membuatnya, perhatikan contoh berikut X: ________________? Y: Yes, she is Maymunah (Subject dan tobe yang saya tandai tinggal dibalik) Sehingga X: Is she Maymunah?

X: _________________? Y: No, I’m busy after course Untuk yang disediakan jawaban “No” harus lebih hati hati. Kita perlu perhatikan sebaik mungkin jawaban yang diberikan. Contohnya saja pada soal diatas (no 2) X: Am I busy after course? (Benar saja jika pertanyaannya sperti ini akan tetapi jika jawabannya menggunakan I am maka dalam pertanyaannya gunakanlah you are) Sehingga akan menjadi X: Are you busy after course? Y: No, I’m free after course

When (untuk menanyakan waktu secara umum) Contoh: When is the Harry Potter movie on TV? – Maybe 2 days again

How (untuk menanyakan keadaan atau cara) Contoh: How is your mom? – She is good as usual, uncle

Untuk level ini, cukup itu saja kata tanya yang harus dikuasai. Tapi tidak menutup kemungkinan di TYG kalian akan mendapatkan kata tanya lainnya
