HALF WAVE RECTIFIER CIRCUIT

A. PURPOSE 1. The student can make a rectifier circuit 2. The student can understanding how the rectifier circuit work

B. MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT 1. Osiloscope FG GOS 620 , FG 20 MH

2. Transformator 3. Diode 4. Analog multimeter 5. Regulator LM 7805 6. Filter 1000 micro farad 7. Jumper wire 8. Project board 9. Resistor ( RL 1 kilo ohm)

C. PROCEDURE a) Calibrate the Ch 1and Ch2 in oscilloscope b) Make a a half wave of rectifier circuit (without filter, regulator and RL)

c) Arrange the oscilloscope in 5V/div and 5ms/div, dual mode d) Use the Ch 1 to measuring the test point 1 and Ch 2 to test point 2 e) Add the filter capacitor 1000 micro farad/16V and RL 1 kilo ohm then

measures TP 1 and TP 2

f) Add regulator LM 7805, output capacitor and RL 1 kilo ohm, use channel 1 and channel 2(AC dual mode). Each one for measuring output ripple filter voltage in TP 1 and output ripple regulator voltage in TP 2

D. DATA ANALYSIS

Explanation picture 1: In TP 0 (input diode), the curve showing back and forth AC wave from transformer.

Explanation picture 2: In TP 1(output diode), the curve showing DC wave, it means diode already change AC voltage become DC voltage.

Explanation picture 3: In TP 2(output from filter ),

The curve showing like ripple.

Explanation picture 4: In TP 3( output regulator), The curve showing DC voltage is flat or Ic = 0

E. CONCLUSION A half wave of rectifier circuit is consist of 1 diode,filter,RL,and regulator. The filter utility is to change a half wave signal become DC constant voltage, While which completing with weaken ripple until DC output voltage become flat or constant.
