Kenneth E. Riddett Ed Bartholomew Jr. February 5, 2001 Roadway Contracting Update
I spoke with Russ on his cell phone following the meeting on Friday. On Monday morning) I spoke with a Can Ed representative. At this meeting attended by Russ and his attorney, Con Ed offered the following:
• Addit.ional training and safety for his crews , • Allow the Company earlier access into the planning stages, • Permit the Company to offer a contract addendum for additional moneys on this presen t f ber op ri cs con tract -- this offer is to be submi tted for Can Ed's review by the week of February 5th. Con Ed advises me that Russ's company probably does 50-55 per cent of all gas and steam work for Can Ed On Tuesday at 205pm , the attached offer by Russ was faxed to Can Ed; key points within the letter: • Company expressed "no interest whatsoever in the joint bidding legislation, • Corrective action plan being submitted which will remove Company from safety suspension, • Seeking rebid of the fiber optics contract due to the size of project--Roadway will rebid ) • If Con Ed does not rebid--Compaay will "reluctan tly begin remobilization once suspension is lifted" and will seek T&E reimbursement until crews are trained .
