ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR Would you prefer to work alone or part of a team? Why? I will definitely support decision making in groups. I would like to work in group. Because in group, we have more opportunities to take the ideas of other and combine them to make a single decision and that is the best approach. There may be wrong decisions but you must consider the group of people who are taking the decision. There is difference between the people. There are a number of instances in professional as well as personal life when decision-making involves opinions and inputs from more than one or two people. This is where group decisions come into the picture. We always need group decision making in our daily life as I discussed above. There are number of examples about decision making. You must be aware of parliament of any country. There are many members like MNAs or MPAs in the parliament who’re making decisions. Though every member have own ideas and choices, but all the members have to be the part of the group. No any member is allowed to enforce the law or agreement on the behalf of the whole nation. This is one of the major examples of decision making in groups. The decisions in companies are also based on group decisions. Because the main purpose of taking decision in group is to save the interest of shareholders. Just think that group is going to take the decision to save the interest of individuals. What is a team? “A group whose individual efforts result in performance that is greater than the sum of the individual inputs” Not every employee is a team player gave the opportunity to many employees will select themselves out of team participation. When people would prefer to work alone are required to team up there is a direct threat to the team’s moral and to individual member satisfaction. This suggests that when selecting team members. Individual preference should be considered as along with abilities, personality and skill. High performing teams are likely to be composed of people who prefer working as part of a group. This suggests that when selecting team members. Individual preference should be considered as along with abilities, personality and skill. High performing teams are likely to be composed of people who prefer working as part of a group. Now the team performance is based on the knowledge, skills, and abilities of team player or its individual member. That is fact that we occasionally read about an athletic team composed of mediocre players who, because of excellent coaching, determination, and precision teamwork, beat a far more talented group of players, but such cases make the news precisely because they represent an aberration. To perform effectively a team player requires three difference types of skills first is technical expertise second is he has the problem solving and decision making skills and thirdly he has the other interpersonal skills. As per as the behavior is concern it significantly influence on individual employee this can also extended to team behavior.
