The Rivers are Dayton’s Great Central Placemaker • Determined the basic layout and character for Dayton as we know it. • Rivers could be viewed as major Dayton avenues that connect the City – not divide it. • After the Great Flood, their role as a defining feature was strengthened with uninterrupted green and blue edges. • Was rediscovered in the 1970’s as an underutilized asset and is being incrementally revitalized in a coordinated manner.
